If this topic is on the forum I didn't find it.....
Here in Maine we're getting the snow. I've noticed ice collecting around the wheels, especially the passenger side, to the point where the wheel is restricted in turning (not good). There is also ice under the door; about 5" by 5" by 18" chunk I just knocked off today.
Maybe this was just a rare combination of temperature changes and mixes of snow and salt, and won't be happening all the time. We've only had the xB for a month and this has been the first real test in crappy weather.
This is a long-winded way of asking if other Northerners have experience like this; all I can think of is mud flaps for the underneath stuff but that won't help the wheel wells.

The snow and ice will actually collect enough to cause your tire to rub on it when going in a straight line. My friend and I where going down the highway and the snow/ice caused the whole car to vibrate. Just get out and kick if off.

A trick I used to do before winter came around in Indiana,

Power wash your wheel wheels then get a sprayer bottle and fill it with Mop&Glo Floor wax. Spray it all in the wheel wheel. The snow will not stick to it as bad. You will have to repeat it every once in while.

In the summer I used to do the same thing but made sure everything was clean, it looks like i have everything painted high gloss. Not oily and sticky like spraying it with Amorall or something similar

Hope this helps a bit.

:shock" That's a good idea.. wax it down so the ice'll fall off better. brilliant!
