Because unfortunately, mine bit the dust today...

I felt it pop a while back, but never thought it was about to break. Then I went to open the hatch today and it went "kersnapp!" and just flew off. It's being held in place with some pieces of US Postal Service tape I pulled off a box I had in the car, and some painters tape that I bought later.

But anywho, how do I go about fixing it?

 

Keep an eye out on ebay for CF ones... I just looked today cause I want to buy one (impulse buy!1) but they don't have any right now and i'm not sure what buyer to PM to get one, so i'll have to wait till one pops up.

Other than that I think you can order them from TRDsparks for a pretty fair price, search the website

get a fiberglass one that's already shaved, get it painted to match, and voila !!!

 

I broke mine a while ago, used 3M tape to fix it. Strange thing is I would need to re-apply the 3M tape every 2 weeks or so because of rain and whatnot, done this a few times actually, but for the past 2 months, ive been on the same pieces of tape.

 

Mine is about to go, Still under warranty so the dealer will have to cover it.

 

broke mine about a week ago.. waiting for UPS to deliver my replacement

 

Found a cf one on ebay for like 180 or 190.

 

may get it if i'm not still covered by warranty.

 

mine is creeking but i have a feeling its guna go soon =/

 

mine died last week, yeah for junk yard got a BSP and a FM just for a spare for 20bucks each

Does TRD sell them painted? I make sure not to even touch mine, but just in case...

 

Lift the bottom edge of the hatch and not the garnish folks!

 

mine broke lol, it was fixed by a body shop after my accident and then my fiance broke it again cause she thought it was unlocked. now I know to press the button and grab the bottom of the hatch. ebay has fiberglass ones which were FLEAs ,moldings and they had CF ones too. for pretty cheap anywhere between 89-109 I think.

 

Why are you people using the garnish to lift th hatch? You are supposed to use the handle, not the garnish. It's called a garnish for a reason. It's not meant for anything other than being cosmetic, there is no structural support there.

 

its because everyone is used to opening it that way on other vehicles. my mothers SUV opens the same way but it also acts as a handle as well. its just a habit.

 

I just lift with the same button I pressed to open it in the first place. Has worked fine for me for the last 4+ yrs. I don't know wth you people are doing to yours.
