Default Goin away for a while, any special storage advice?

Well I've put it off for as long as possible, I'm getting deployed to afghani-land in a few short days and I'm planning on making some very bad alcohol related decisions at my going away party tonight. I have to finally suck it up and put my tC in the garage for a whole 13+ months I've never stored a vehicle for that long before, the most action that's gonna happen to it is being started up every few weeks by my mom, is there any extra preventive maintenance I should be doing to it right now?

Wash/wax the vehicle, remove the fuel out of the gas tank, put a car cover over it and place the vehicle on jack stands. That's what I would do if it was going to sit that long.

Just searched a few sites and most say to put in a full tank of gas to remove most of the air space to prevent rust and keep out moisture.

2nd everything else guy above said besides that.

And an oil change wouldn't hurt so you have fresh non-filthy juice sitting it your engine.

I went away for a week lol that's the most I've let it sit for. I washed/waxed it. Cleaned it up real good. Full tank of gas. I know I didn't go away for long but still haha . Good luck and be safe dude.

Hmm did not know that, good to know though. I always thought keeping gas that long in the tank wasn't good since gas goes bad after a few months. Also would there have to be worries about rust since the gas tank is plastic?

^I wouldn't do ALL THAT. but I'd make sure your mom starts it every week.

My car has been in storage since November and when all is said and done, it will be stored for 15 or 16 months. I initially changed the oil and used to start it up every couple of weeks, then my battery died for some reason, so now I let it run for several minutes every Saturday. Put it on 4 jack stands and you'll be good to go.

just get a parent to run it like 2 exits on the highway every weekend. if decide to just store it, fill the gas tank all the way, disconnect the battery, and use a car cover. once you get back get ALL your fluids flushed

have parent take it around the block once a week at best and keep the gas fresh,so make sure they top it off every month, gas goes bad in like 45days.......most cars can still run when it goes bad but not good on filter or injectors......

Also if you are making bad drinking decisions tonight,do be safe and use a condom........no fighting, and no driving.........no need to come back to a 4 month old child...........and remember you can drink em pretty but not thin.........at least till the 14th drink........then they seem to blur out and look pretty and thin...........

Stay safe over there man........there is a war going on and people are not very friendly over there.........God Bless man.

my tc has been in storage for 16 months. ima be going home this month so cant wait! so far what i did was fill the engine with oil, remove the sparks. and put my car on stands so that my tires wont have flat spots. but i told my dad to take it down and drain the oil, put the sparks back on and give it a good run. he said the battery died but everything else was fine. good luck out there i'll be seeing you soon!

Uhh i dunno i deployed last sept. What i did was change the oil put a full tank of fuel in my car and added some stabalizer to my fuel tank to keep the gasoline from goin bad.
Put a car cover up and it was good.

When i came back on midtour leave i ran it got another oil change, hehe but when i left again i forgot to add more stablizer. As for my tires they were a lil low just needed to add some air nothing serious, i didnt disconect my battery it fired up on midtour so i hope itl bee good when i come home in aug. lol But yeah best of luck to you dude!

So does anyone know exactly how bad it is for your car leaving untreated fuel in your tank?
