The kit never got released--what a big fat joke if you ask me.

"September 2003"...riiiiiiiiight, it's freakin almost Feb. 2004, still no solid signs of everything.

This was one of the most talked about things back when the Scion was released...I came to the conclusion that the only thing worthwile from Spy eng was their springs--I wouldn't spend a dime on anything else they "make"...or "plan to release".

I hear alot of good things about their springs but I'm going with full coilovers.

Last time i called them, whoever answered the phone said they aren't releasing it anymore.


But they do have good products.... well i guess springs. and customer service is the $hit as well.

I would have brought one if it was any good. The first forced induction piece that comes out. Whether it's a super charger or turbo will have a home on my xB the day it's available. I have $3500 waiting :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

I agree that SPY is a great company and their springs rock but to offer a product and then not sell it anymore for the fact that they assume it wouldn't sell is pretty lame.

At least have the common courtesy to take it off their website or never have brought it up in the first place.

Hey let's show everyone the tC and then assume no one's going to buy it and then retract it and leave pictures of it on Scion.com so all can see but not have.

Sorry, everyone. It's not Spy's fault, It's mine!!! Please, at least if you are going to bag on someone, make it the right person. I am the one that is making it. The ones that know me, know that I've built some sick stuff. IE; Turbo MRS, 6-Speed (the only one of it's kind), 0-100-0 in 15 seconds. I had a lot of problems last year, lots. Everyone talking smack, I'm just a little guy. If it was the easiest thing to do, then why don't these big companies with lots, and lots of money, and have nothing better to do than to build stuff, have one done yet? It's not that simple. JDMxB, what have you built from scatch lately? Ok, so I was a little optismistic about it, sorry. I had many other problems other than this. Going to Japan in September didn't help either. It will get done, it's just taking a little longer than expected. Sorry, if I have fustrated any of you. If, you hang in there I will get it. We are not in it to defraud people. We like to go fast, just like the rest of you. We have not taken anyone's money, because we don't have anything to sell, unlike some other companies.

For those of you that don't know, I was the first person to Lower a XB, or Scion for that matter. That was Scion #2 sold in CA. I have probably lowered more Scions than anyone else?

Spy, sorry for all the heat you got for this. I will do my best to get it done ASAP. Having to move my shop isn't helping anything.

Whatever. If you want a supercharger, go and buy it, they're out already. This is the closest to a turbo kit that a scion has ever gotten here so it doesn't really matter if it is done or not. We know that the guy tried and if he puts something out there that can compete with the big companies (who have a s/c) then it will just give us more choices to boost our rides. When it's done, it's done and hopefully it'll be as crazy as his other stuff

Look, bottom line is you guys advertised TWO freakin different kits a long ___ time ago. I really wanted to pick one or the other up like 3 weeks after I bought the car, as V can attest to. Is it my fault that someone didn't put it all together when it was advertised to be done, back in September?

And please "well people wouldn't have bought it anyway"...what kinda arguement is that?! How would you know--they didn't even release the kit that was supposed to be out in Sept, let alone their "Stage 2 kit" in Dec.

It's just that it should show on the website that it's delayed because it makes SPY look bad that they show that a product should have been released in SEPT. when the can do a pretty simple edit and change it to "DELAYED....Sorry for the Inconvenience."

Jason don't worry, I back you up all the way bro. I'm not bashing you and neither is Teddy. You've always wanted what's best for the Scion community but no need to get heated over it.

Teddy is just trying to take heat off SPY since it's the developmental stage from Maverik that's been lagging. We can't blame Derrick for that but we can get him to change the date for release since it's been leaving us wanting and hating it even more.

As for Teddy....he's an awesome guy and even more an awesome fabricator. He's been backlogged with clients and other past responsibilities that he doesn't want to half ___ something such as a turbo kit or else it would cost us more then just the price of the kit....it'll cost us our motors.

So it's good this post went up because at least things are getting changed now but it's bad how it went down because it makes people that all cool look stupid and there's no need for it.

dude, this thread is out of control. i'm not here to scratch anyone's back or anything but i need to say some things. first of all, i have always been a supporter of spy engineering. i was the first guy to buy their springs back in june and i bought a set of 19" axis wheels from them as well. and i've always supported them. but this is clearly not about spy. they are just distributing the turbo kit for maverick motorsports. ok now that that is clear, let's address something that teddy said that is pretty interesting.

it's not easy to do the electronics on the scions. ok? on a honda, you can bolt a drag kit onto a stock motor and not touch the ECU and it works fine. awesome. well, it doesn't work that way with the xB and xA. that is why blitz, greddy, PE, TRD, and everyone else is taking forever to release the turbo kits for the xB. as far as teddy is concerned, i've talked to him before and he's the nicest guy. he never intended to mislead anyone and he certainly knows what he's doing when it comes to cars, especially toyotas.

what i suggest is that the website on scioned.com be updated to say that the kit is still in development and that there is no release date at this time, because it just gets people all worked up when things don't come out as planned. the last thing i heard is that teddy was giving up on the turbo kit and it was never coming out, but i would still like to see it happen. i might even buy one. the scion ECUs are not as turbo friendly as hondas and to make matters worse, the USDM spec ECU is different from the automatic trans only JDM version. yes, the wiring is basically the same but internally the ECU takes different calculations into account which means a company can't just import someone elses technology from japan and sell it for the US scions.

i don't see why JDM xB is so upset, but certainly something bad must have happened that has really bothered him. i'm sorry, and i hope everything will be ok in the future.

product development is harder than it looks, and when you're just one or two guys trying to get it done, and you have other things on your plate, it's even harder.

the last thing i would like to say is that there is no reason why we can't all get along. there isn't as much of a "happy community" as it seems, when you know whats really going on in the community. a lot of people don't like each other and there are pretty harsh feelings between a lot of the members right now. it's pretty sad, but the group is starting to break up and it's only a matter of time before we see some big changes coming up within the scion ownership community. but that's how we grow.

also, i am not 100% positive, but i think randy holds the scion world record for spring installs as of right now. i think he's done over 20 cars at this point.

Well... There are lots R&a D need to be done to build a performance part... no matter it’s an intake or turbo kit. I don't think 6 month can really built a turbo kit that will work well. So hanging there! XS Engineering told me about their turbo kit for GS300 almost year ago and they have not even finish with their project car for the last SEMA... XS is a very reputable company making almost perfect product for any car they work on! So lets not blame on SPY for the lag no matter they build their kit or they buy it from someone else

But Teddy... Someone at SPY needs to be more professional about their own product or advertising on the web... I have called couple times asking about the body kit that was suppose be coming soon on the web (few month ago) and also about the installation on the fender flair... the person who answer me is very unprofessional and not polite...
I asked "can the flair installed just with double stick tape" and the answer was " yeah, I guess" let’s not guess here... who is held responsible if the flair fly off the car and hit a 80 years old lady behind me and die in the accident??

asked them what the heck it was..
they said: "ummmm u mean our springs?"
and i said: "no, the 750 dollar suspension package u sell"
they said: "oh, its a shock and spring combo"

the "koni" shocks they package the spy springs with are
shortened stroke or not.

Wow you miss a few days on scion life and good god damn. Come on folks lets not get our panties in a bunch over things that are not just worth fighting about. An opinion is a opinion and leave it at that. Like any new product it takes time to release add on's and aftermarket gadgets. I personaly commend the turbo not being pushed through and then end up with a faulty product. Remember good things come to those who wait. So if you really want to get all heated about something focus your attention to things that are more important in this world, put your energy into something good and more productive. In the end its just a car. Just my 2 cents on the subject and if my little rant ____ed anyone off remember what a said in the begining: AN OPINION IS JUST AN OPINION AND LEAVE AT THAT!!!
