View Full Version : Best Place to get tuned in SoCal?
CityWingz 07-15-2009, 02:40 AM Ok guys, im looking for a turbo kit and leaning towards the dezod. Im just looking forward to see all the stuff i might have to deal with sorted out.
I was wondering if anybody had suggestions on where i could get it tuned in southern california. Along with experiences at your shops and anything else you might have to add.
Thanks :)
BEazy 07-15-2009, 04:22 AM If you don't mind driving to Vista, there is a good shop down here. Shogun Style Performance. I personally know the owner and one of his techs, both of whom are good guys. www.shogunstyleperformance.com info@shogunstyleperformance.com or (760)715-1052. The owner is Matt Monaco.
AcidDrop 07-15-2009, 06:11 AM Chruchs in wilmington is the best, everyone can vouche for him and his tuning.
CityWingz 07-15-2009, 04:35 PM ive actually heard of church. they did my friends 99 si and it runs really good.
dirtyblonde13 07-15-2009, 06:18 PM Church's FTW!
kiss_kiss_kill 07-15-2009, 09:54 PM Yep, Church's. Sean/Shawn/Shaun? (lol) tuned my tC.
Paul @ Yimi Sport in Santa Clarita is bomb, too. I've heard nothing but good things about him. But, Wilmington was closer to World-Racing & I'd rather go somewhere closer than drive somewhere untuned, which is why I went to Church's, but regardless, I was happy with my results.

yea Sean/Shawn/Shaun? (lol) is the man you need to get to tune your car. the other guys that work there arent too great. lol.
WeakC 07-16-2009, 12:23 AM yeah i've had 2 other buddies of mine get tuned there at church's and no problems so far and that was a while ago now.
jesse08 07-16-2009, 12:27 AM Church's all the way my car was tuned there too (TC) cool guy too
Mightygnu 07-16-2009, 06:00 AM Church's
CityWingz 07-16-2009, 07:20 AM um what exactly happens if you drive too far untuned? lol
i only have about half of the loot for it so i havent fully done my research ;)
AcidDrop 07-16-2009, 07:30 AM try not going into boost and you will be find but if you start going into boost and racing/messing around then the risk of your motor or turbo parts getting messed up is a high chance. somepeople run untuned but they don't abuse the car unlike others who boost just to race.
moderneuphoric 11-16-2009, 04:39 AM are there any other places that are good for tuning aside from Church's???
AcidDrop 11-16-2009, 06:45 AM ^just go to him because he's worked on alot of scions unlike other shops who do hondas and aren't familair with how to tune a tc correctly because you wouldn't want problem going down with the car while driving around.
E-Paba 11-16-2009, 07:06 AM What's the address to church's? and do they only work on tc's? I have a 06 xB and need to get it maintenance.
moderneuphoric 11-16-2009, 07:00 PM just go to church's.
I would just go to Church's if they didn't charge $325 just for tuning!!! Other places cost like $200/hr to tune and according to Chris (chris-garage.net) he said it should only take an hour to tune if you are running a popular F/IC like AEM
Any other good tuning shops in SoCal???
dirtyblonde13 11-16-2009, 10:15 PM suck it up and pay the $325. its well worth it and you wont get your car blown up. if you ever add new things and need a retune its only like $175 or if you just want a summer/winter tune and you didnt change your setup, its free!
moderneuphoric 11-16-2009, 10:28 PM ^ guess i'll be visiting shawn then (i never understood why people would spell it "sean" and pronounce it sh-awn. do you pronounce "bean" bh-awn?)

because people like to screw up the english language more than it was originally intended. seriously english is difficult enough! tech is pronounced teck, etc, etc, etc. and don't even get me started on the bs that is the silent letter....wtf is that! why do you bother? just omit the effin letter in the first place!
anyway.....go to Church's
moderneuphoric 11-17-2009, 12:22 AM lol! take a ride in your evo and calm down =p btw i saw a white evo 10 saturday night off of hacienda in whittier. not sure if it was you.
back to the thread topic! im planning to stick with church's, but i found another tuning shop out there:
1) http://www.doitdyno.com/Services.html ($200/hr) - seems like a lot of honda tunes tho
Signal Hill (Long Beach area), CA
2) http://www.gtpro.com/dynoservices.html ($200/hr) - website showcases a lot of high end cars
Fullerton, CA

" FAIL", it's $180 an hour or pay $325 flat rate(emanage), no matter how long it takes them. if aem it's $350, and stand alone is more.
moderneuphoric 11-17-2009, 03:45 AM thanks for the info. no thanks for the FAIL _______
myr6goesfast 11-17-2009, 04:19 AM Gonna be going to Church's pretty soon. Seems like they're always busy, not a bad thing.

no problemo, i emailed for tuning but haven't got any response from them.post your results. fail was a word i wanted to try for a chance, nothing serious. g/l
moderneuphoric 11-18-2009, 05:07 AM ^ save your capitalized FAILS for someone like this:
Just making sure that when you pull down for 3rd gear, you aren't pushing the stick to the right any. 3rd is like straight down
change > chance
