pick my xb up tomorrow, but...
I need help in deciding what accessories to finance in with the car, if any. OK, I got dealer installed security system for $499 (dealer said I had to as it was already in the car.) I was going to get it anyway, though.
Now, should I finance the upgraded Pioneer 6-disc CD changer in the deal? Cuz I could pay the dealer cash for it next month. Is it a worthwhile upgrade? Also, what do you guys think of the door sill enhancements ($139) and the fog lights? Should I finance any of these into the deal? I really need help, as I have to make a decision tomorrow...Thanks.
Also, evil dealership tried to sell me an extended warranty for $1500 to extend the warranty for another, I think it was, 3 years.

I wouldn't recommend it if you know you're going to be able to afford it later. There are many dealers that sell online and on E-bay for less than the normal retail price. There's also a ton of aftermarket stuff that you may like better. Look around first.
i'd rather get the warranty , but my extended one was like 650. the scion security is pretty much garbage , but if u dont wanna order yer own and wait a month.........6 disc , well it is a 6 disc but other than that it's not a good deck or anything , the door sills arent bad at all , good price and good look.foglights can be had cheaper but this way it's only pennies more a day.
The stock HU is MP3 capable... so the first thing I did was burn a CD full of MP3s (creating separate folders for different types of music for different moods). It reduces the need for a multiCD changer. IMO

i really want fog lights but i dont want to pay over 200 bucks for fog lights
Mine came with the single disc HU, and I wanted the 6 -Disc for mine. So now I've got the Kenwood DVX7015 and have 2 Scion HU's sitting around! The 6-disc is sold though to another member on here. I just need to take it out first! Anyway the 6-disc HU is good HU if you're not going to add anything else to your system. Since it doesn't have AV hookups. But you can buy one from members on here or on E-bay for around $200 or so. I also made the mistake of getting rims from the dealer too. I paid around $1800 for rims and tires! We all know that I could have got some for way cheaper. Since the alarm system is already on there just keep it but for everything else I would buy it on the internet. You can get everything else way cheaper! But you can buy the Alarm here for only $258.70. http://www.partznet.com/toyota/scion...BINTERIOR.html
Personaly, I think you should get it stock, then buy after market parts. I got a list of the parts, and prices from my dealer and I started looking around, and after market parts are ALOT cheaper, and if you get the ones from the dealer, there are going to be a ton of other cars just like it, there are only so many configurations you can make with those options, and there are millions of others out side of the dealer/toyota world.
don;'t even waste your breath, let alone money on the scion security system. I have it and its is just terrible! Go stock on everything and get the mods later as you save up. Dealership charges WAY to much for their mods. You'll save a load of money in the long run if you buy stock and purchase when you can - besides, mods make great birthday gifts :-)

Definately take this advice...Buy it stock and make your own mods...I bought my B last month just in time for Christmas...Door sills not 138, 78...West Covina Scion...There are many sites to choose from. Also tell the dealer that the 6-disc changer was a no charge feature in some of the cars...mine was included at no extra charge. My salesman thought it was an error on the sticker, he called to another dealer and was told that some of them are put in at no charge....pretty decent unit if you're not looking to have a competition. Also with the stereo, I've seen some posts about the Bass being overwhelming....try this when you get the car, put the Bass on 1 or 2 and put the Treb on 5..perfect sound! As far as extended warranty, ask yourself how long you plan on having the car, does the payment fit into what you were looking for? If you plan on having the car over the 3 yrs its covered, be smart and get the warranty. Before I go one add on that's a must is the Armrest I got the Boomerang and let me tell you like reviews say, it looks like it came from the factory and installs in 10 minutes with your eyes closed. Otherwise enjoy your new B and welcome to the club!
Dude why do you need a 6 disc changer? The stock cd player plays MP3 cd's!!! an mp3 cd can hold as much music as a 6 disc cd changer. Plus if you really have to have a 6 disc changer get one off ebay for around 250$.
things are cheaper on ebay!
I only got extended warrenty, cargo cover, floor mats, and alloy wheels (only because thouse 3 things were on it already) plus I got some free tune ups and free oli changes for 4 years 55k miles. bla bla bla.
Everything else I will pickup on ebay, like the foglights I got yesterday for 167$, a far cry from 350$. If you dont have floor mats you can get them on ebay for 45$ intead of paying 120$.
Also I am glad I didnt get the FACTORY supercharger as a aftermarket one has more power.

If you can afford to buy the stuff later, do it. If you've just gotta have the goodies, but can't scrape up enough cash, then finance. But remember, besides paying inflated dealer prices, you'll be paying interest on it too for years...
IMO, there's no need for the aftermarket warranty, it's a Toyota. You can buy the warranty in a few years if you still think you'll need it. I'd bet half the peeps that buy the extra warranty end up getting rid of the car before it kicks in...
As for the alarm, I think it just seems overpriced. You can get ones with all those features plus the pager key fob and other goodies for much less. It's not like Scion looked for the premium system, they found an adequate one that was priced right for them...
If you're gonna pay that much to upgrade the HU, just have someone put a nice system in it. If you're not worried THAT much about the music, I'd say give the single disc a try first. Like was mentioned, with mp3's, I can fit 10 CDs worth of music on one disc. IMO, if you think you need 6 times that much music available, buy an iPod and necessary hookup gear...

Thanks for all the replys
I got the security sytsem and the door sill enhancements financed in the deal--other than that, I went stock. You guys are right about financing in all of those overpriced dealer options. Didn't want to raise my payments; so I am satisfied that I didn't finance in any more mods. As advised, I Will get those as money comes available.
Mods I'll probably get first are fogs and spoiler from where ever I can get them cheapest.
One thing that irked me was one of the guys that get the car ready for delivery to the customer was trying to get one of the window stickers off and was spraying windex ( I think it was) very liberally on windows. When I looked back at what he was doing, liquid was dripping all down the window and looked like into the door jam. Is this a big deal? Can a lot of liquid get down there and rust parts in the door jam?
Overall, the scion sales team were pretty helpful and professional. I'm pretty happy with my purchase so far.
