Default To mod or not to mod

Alright so i can eather start putting money into my scion tc or i can save up for a faster car.
Im on the fence about this because i love the tc but i don't love its front wheel drive 2.4 liter engine plus mines an automatic.
What to do.

just save up and buy a faster car with a manual transmission, anything you do to your car will just lower its value come trade-in time.

also, automatics are lame.

well it depends how much you love your car. if you REALLY love your auto tc, you'll put money into it, if you don't save up for something new.

So do you automatic fellas do heavy modding because i heard the scions auto tranny cant take much after 300+ hp and if so what did you do to your tranmission.

lol it cant handle more then 250 whp before it starts to slip.

also, i have a manual and i have no problem in traffic what so ever. if you do have a problem with manual in traffic.... learn how to drive, also i have an upgraded clutch which is slightly more aggressive then stock and its still cake

i have an auto tc and i am runnin 4psi on a 60 trim turbo, pushin about 200-215 whp and its alot of fun to drive, eventually i will be around 10psi but to do that safely i need the zpt valve body upgrade for my trans, i could to a manual swap but i like the perks of having an auto. ive had many manual cars and its just not fun to drive unless your racing all the time, and for the most part, your not. if you want a "race car", start a project car

you gotta put it this way, do you want a faster car for your own enjoyment? or do you want a fast car just to be faster than the other guy?

if you want a faster car just to be faster than the other guy, your into modding for the wrong reason, to me, car modification is about changing a car to fit your personal needs, and that makes you a true car enthusiast.

you want speed, keep the tc. if you love the car, put the money into it and keep it. i dumped a little over 9k on mine and i wouldnt want anything else. and alot of cars beat me and i just dont care.because its fast enough for me.

Im into modding for many reasons
just the feeling and the sound of having a fast car
Knowing i can go fast.
I just want it.
I don't care what the other guy has really im driving my car not his.
no matter how fast my car is there will always be someone faster thats the way i look at it.

"also, i have a manual and i have no problem in traffic what so ever. if you do have a problem with manual in traffic.... learn how to drive, "

you completely missed the point...

in heavy traffic, it's a PIA.

that was the point...

depends on what you want to do with the tc. but i see so many threads asking about how much would they lose trading their auto for a manual, or how to do a tranny swap etc.

if you want performance, you gotta realize that the auto tranny on the tc is awful, kills power and is slow to shift.

if you just want a nice ride, maybe a nice audio system and comfy ride for your daily commute, then the auto is fine.

i agree with draxcaliber.
auto is mainly for people who wants a comfortable ride. If you have an auto, i would go for looks rather than high performance. If you want performance (speed, etc) go with a manual.

don't mod because if you do you'll be spending over thousands of dollars on your car with the chain reaction.. especially if you show or track your car

There really isn't many horses to let out man...ha

but dude seriously if you are asking the question you already know the answer. If you are on the edge dont do it, save your money and buy a RWD platform in a 5 or 6 speed like you want. But the question is 100% subjective. Its all about what you want to do. Asking a forum where no one knows you and where no one knows the money situation you are in will not help you. Go with your gut, usually its the right choice.

Yup. It's a slippery slope.
