View Full Version : Any Issues with This Set-Up?

I went ahead and ordered the following items for my XB:

DC Sports Header
Magnaflow Cat Back System
Injen Short Ram Intake

I realize that this is probably a typical set-up, but what issues if any can I expect, i.e. computer issues, exhaust leaks etc. Also, what performance gains (roughly) can I expect.

Sorry if this is a previous post.

you'll get a few HP, 4? 5? maybe. You shouldn't have any issues with codes or anything - leaks are going to have more to do with poor install rather than product qaulity - but everything you have is bolt on, shouldn't be a problem.

I've got the same system, except for that from the header back I have a hi flow cat and 2 resonators w/ a dual exit magnaflow ... has yet to throw a code for anything and is only slightly louder than stock (thanx to TWO resonators)

Gabe sent it to me (Stylis - Performance Muffler). He sent the entire setup from the header back -- cat, resonator, muffler, piping, tip... (which I then heavily modified). Great system -

I'm sure he'll be plenty happy to sell a cat to you - mine's worked just fine -- I am still using his cat to this day

If you install it all at once, make sure you reset the ECU and let the car idle for about 10 min. DON'T hop in and redline it to "test it out" or you will definitely throw a CEL.
Your computer and EFI need to re-adjust to the new setup.

Peace

Nice set uip, just make sure you have a competent person installing it. It'll sound nice and you'll notice a few gains.

Installing the catback can be done at any muffler shop, very easy to install and shouldn't take more than 45 min for them to put it together. :D

Stylis - are your pipes mandrel bent?

windowtint

yes, his bends are smooth - not the accordian fold corner factory style.

--although my header back setup from Gabe loked like he used the ouside corner of the shop to make the bends (J/K! - it was great - there's no reason not to buy from Stylis, Derk-xB)

no they are not mandrel but good quality crush bent , mandrel tube benders are very very expensive. (correct me if i'm wrong gabe) but yeah

notice i didnt say they ARE mendrel - don't know - but I know mine from him are SMOOTH though, which is just as good - that's the whole point of a mandrel more or less - smooth corners and no reduction in pipe diameter - mine were as good as mandrel (if not)

well a crush bent that is done correctly like gabe's will be smooth but there is a reduction in size compared to the straight pipe , but a million fold better than stock accordian bent.

Thanks for the props windowtint, hotbox05 your right. They are cruch bent, but work great. Derk-xb the bends I use are the perfect size for the axle backs. Too wide to the muffler and you could lose power and gas milage. PrecisionMuffler.com experimented with so many exhausts to get the right set-up for the most difference. Hope you choose us for your exhaust needs. :D

I know of a system that was a manifold back that used a glasspack for a resonator. Took that out and replaced it w/ a true resonator and its a thousand times quieter and doesn't resonate through-out the interior any more.
