Today I was looking for a way to deal with that rear bumper bolt that rubs when you're low with aggressive offsets. I saw the flat screw that holds the side skirt and gave it a try. Its about 25% shorter but sits flush against the bumper. Anyone know if using this shorter bolt on the bumper will be a problem? I tugged/pulled the bumper corner and it comes out the same amount with either either the bolt or screw on. I guess the original bolt connects the bumper to a plastic bracket and not any metal.

The original bolt (that rubs) is in the center. The side skirt screws are on the sides. I picked them up at the dealer for $1.26 each.

Why don't you just take that bolt off, Won? I drove without those bolts for months and didn't have any problem

no bolts FTW!
i know its the front and not the rear...
but my front bumper is only held on by 2 clips underneath the hood. :P

You can remove the rear bumper bolts no problem. Pretty much everyone that runs aggressive setups have shaved the rear bumper so the bolt can't be put back.

or you can sand/shave down the bolt itself, like sky-on did. sits a lot more flush, and the ratchet head still catches on to it and cover it over with electric tape.
i personally haven't had a bumper bolt on for over a year now, and i drive 70 miles daily.

only reason I'm still running the bolt is because my bumper is cracked at the mounting point, otherwise i wouldn't be running the bolt either, Won you should be fine w/o it, the rear bumper is super reinforced, you can all thank Toyota for over-engineering EVERYTHING on our cars. lol
