THE_DON 01-27-2005, 06:56 PM Sounds good... Probably some of the best parts you could have bought.
Make sure you reset the ECU and let it idle after the install. And let us know
How it sounds/performs.
Peace

Did your aem cai come with a bypass valve? what price if you don't mind me asking for the aem cai?

no bybass valve included...got it from www.ptuning.com price was in the ballpark of 209 with something like 5% off and free shipping. it was the cheapest i found, but i didnt do a real extensive search either.

hotbox05 02-01-2005, 04:35 AM the bypass valve type aem intake can only be bought through the dealer . the aftermarket style is the "L" pipe

I just bought the same setup and I am new to working on cars. What do you mean by ECU?
Derk-xB 02-02-2005, 03:50 AM ECU = the car's computer.
markandersen 02-02-2005, 04:11 AM how do you reset the thing? I am doing an Axle Back shortly too...
do you need to reset it after the exhaust or only after the cai install?
hotbox05 02-02-2005, 07:23 AM disconnect the neg battery cable for 15+ minutes then re-connect
TheInfamousSofa 02-02-2005, 11:49 PM Thanks!
squirrel 02-03-2005, 12:15 AM When I do intake installs, I don't reset the ECU or unplug the battery. I just let it idle for 15 minutes. Yes, some say 15 minutes it too long, but that's how long it usually takes my to clean the tools and put them back. It works for me, and I have yet to throw a CEL.

Ħsquirrel es loco! lol, j/k. When I installed my intake, I threw a CEL right when I started my car. I pulled the EFI fuse and left it out for 15 seconds to reset the ECU. link to tech article (http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=33062).
I swear squirrel is hiding some CELs somewhere... :ponder:
I love you, squirrel.
hotbox05 02-03-2005, 03:28 AM ya never threw a cel eh? how about this ... you ever catch one? lol. when i started my xb after intake install i threw one too. but i just shut it off then restarted it and no more probs afterwards
Haven't got one one my car either, and I too never reset the ECU

Nope, I've done over a dozen installs on 'rollas, Matrix and Scions, no CEL. Just lucky I guess since I'm not an expert.
BangorXB, that exhaust system must be installed and driving around already. You haven't posted in a bit. :D

it was a wopping 33 when i washed my car yesterday. i had ice all along the bottom of my side skirts by the time i was done. it was nice and warm today, but of course i had to work.
THE_DON 02-04-2005, 07:47 PM Haven't got one one my car either, and I too never reset the ECU
You've never reset your ECU! :nope:
Dude, you could unleash like 15whp!
Or so I've heard!
-THE DON
really? 15HP?? Dam thats like another exhaust system and a half! :D
TXboxdriver 02-20-2005, 10:29 PM you really don't need to reset the ecu
it depends on the fault and what kind it is
1 drive cycle or 2 drive cycle
this is Federally mandated stuff
pulling the fuse should be the last resort, GET A SCANNER!! or..........
just drive the car, if it doesn't flash, keep driving it for a few days, it should clear by itself
