Me and my buddy were driving to Detroit, we were at about 65mph.
My car is fitted for my disability and has the push button gears (N,P,D,2) and i accidentally hit the 2 drive.

it red lined, and i knew i did it as soon as it happened and told my buddy to stop (he was driving for me). within 3 seconds we werent redlining, and it has been driving fine since.

did i damage anything that may show up later?

 

If you haven't noticed anything yet, you're probably good.

In extreme cases like this, the valves can actually slap the piston, but you'd have noticed oil burning or worse if that had happened.

The rev limiter works great. I had mine pegged a few times in the snow and everything still works on mine, and i'm at 115,000 miles

I have found that the trans will not allow an over rev situation. I have pulled mine into L at speed and it will only allow a gear that puts the RPM within a legit range.

Now, it may rev like a MF, but it is within the allowable range.

Gothbox had his bouncing off the rev limiter for 3-4 minutes doing a burnout contest and it didn't hurt anything. I wouldn't sweat it.
