So I bought a pint of 1E0 Flint Mica paint. Unfortunately it looks MUCH darker than my tC's Flint Mica paint. I know with metallics and pearls it looks different compared to when it is dried but by how much? I don't want to use it and have it turn out MUCH darker than my OEM paint. I bought it from Sherwin Williams. I'm going to show what they mixed into it as printed on the label.

Now..the guy who had it mixed for me was the manager and did say it seemed to black. The guy who mixed it said the same thing as well. I dried a small amount onto a piece of paper, waited for it to dry a little and compared it to my car outside. Of-course having no stabilizer or clearcoat on top, I assume it may be off but I was unsure. All that I could think of was, I hope they didn't mix Black Sand Pearl instead lol. Anyway..I was hoping if any automotive painters or even amateurs can give me their opinion. Am I worrying to much about this? If I add the reducer and clear it afterwards, would it be close to factory color? I don't want to use it and have it turn out darker. Enlighten me SL!!!

woah same thing happened to me, i got into an accident last year and after the car was all fixed and repainted they gave me a bottle of touch up paint , me thinkin sweet! so i had a few dings and decided hey let me try and use it and when i compared it and looked at the brush it looked CRAZYY darker then my FM but it was the same exact paint that they used, which i found so weird. idk man i havent used my touch up paint bc of it.

also i never really let it dry so maybe it actually dries and becomes lighter in color? im not sure

Its for my garnish. I'm going to do a test run with the paint even though I'm not done with it lol. I'm thinking maybe with the stabilizer and clearcoat it may look normal. Hopefully. Otherwise I will be very disappointed.

I have a pint of 1E0 in my garage from when my painter did my mirrors, and it does definitely look much darker in the can. When mixed properly and looked at again, its still dark but you can see if its flintmica or not. Still very dark, but resembling the car color.

Once mixed in with the hardener and sprayed it looked perfect.

My paint guy said there is like 3? variations of FM. Light medium and dark I guess? He said he got me the medium one of the 3 and it worked out fine.

Yah I just did a trial run and it came out wonderful. Tons of imperfections, but wonderful in the sense that it matches haha. I guess I jumped the gun and got worried to quickly.
