Default My budget stereo install. 08 xB

I know there are 1.6 Billion stereo install threads, so I figured one more wont hurt with my post.

I started on a small budget and still got great results from it. First the equipment! I'm not into spending a ton of money for high end name brands that you can get comparable sound quality out of something much cheaper.

You also won't see an aftermarket head unit. I'm very conservative now, and really like the modified stock look. So Just trying to keep it super clean. I also moved the iPod cable to inside the arm rest box, put in a radar detector, and 2 phone charger hiding all the wires in the interior panels and carpet.

For the door speakers I went with Power Acoustik 6.5"s.

I put the extra set of tweeters in the rear doors. I know you need adapters to fit the front doors but see pics for budget fix!

Break that stupid stock speaker out of that housing and reuse it! FTW!

For the sub and amp I am partial to JL and Rockford Fosgate so I got a sealed box, a 600W 2 Channel RF Punch Amp, and a 12" RF Punch SVC 4-Ohm Sub.

Thanks for taking the time to look and read. Feedback is welcome.

Yep. There are gas stations every 75 feet now a days, and with AAA and shiz on the phone, it isn't hard to get help. Also, when I get some new wheels I will get some run flat shoes for it!

Love the less is more attitude. You don't have to drop $2K to improve your car audio.

To an audio vergin, that all looks great, but HOW DO YOU DO IT? Does anyone have a DIY on how to run cables and such in our gen2 B's? Like installing cables into the center console, or running an amp to the floor under the seat, or powering the amp in the back? How do you do it? Any link will help.

I would like to build a box for the right rear corner like the JL Audio box. That thing is several hundred bucks by it's self. Also have NO IDEA how to pull the radio in the B. I have the Pioneer navi unit. I have no idea how it even comes out to be attached to. Frustrating.

^ well, there are several How To's on here for removing the head unit. As for running the wires and powering up the system, that's super easy too, but the best way to learn is by example. Make friends with someone in town that has a killer set up and did it them selves. Have them come over and buy some beer.

Done deal. If that don't work, drive out to Vegas and Ill hook you up on the house!
