View Full Version : Some one stoled my antenna!
I went to the Burbank Mall (CA) today and when I came back I found 2 cigarette butts wedged into the passenger side door knob and not only that, they took my antenna as well , what a bunch of haters, assumming it was more than one person of course. The joke is on them thou, cause for a while now I'ved been wanting to change it for a Honda S2K antenna and finally I felt compelled to . So I went to the Honda dealer and bought one for $27 bucks, looks sweet :D. When I pulled up, one of the sales man came up to me and said "nice car, I thaught it was a new Acura" so I laughed  and he couldn't believe the price when I told him, I left him with his jaw dropped,. It's weird cause I should be mad about the whole incident, but I'm looking at it on the bright side, I finally got a Honda S2K antenna :D.

TJCCARDCO 02-26-2005, 06:53 AM Spineless people. Who steals an antenna?
Gardiner 02-26-2005, 07:47 AM Here in Atlanta you will see a lot of bent antennae on the Honda's that had them in the A pillar. Seems people would just press them down as they walked by. Glad they just stole it and did not hurt your car any.

Yeah, I'm glad they didn't hurt my car, childish little kids; I bet it started as: "I dare you to......" :tap:. Oh well, I'm happy with my S2K antenna.
Mr_Meaty 03-17-2005, 01:25 PM I posted this question in another thread an no one answered. But since you have an S2000 antenna, I'll ask you. How did you get yours to mount flush? Mine has a tiny gap between the bottom of the antenna and the top of the mount.

It leaves a small gap, but you really don't notice it unless you're looking for it.

Fsu1dolfan 03-17-2005, 02:42 PM Is there spray that we can use to make it harder for stupid people as mention above from stealing it??? I thought i read something somewhere but im not sure???
SCI_TC_GUY 03-17-2005, 02:50 PM threadlock.......go to your local hardware store.....that's the brandname i think....
Fsu1dolfan 03-17-2005, 02:56 PM Thanks i'll have to check that out!!
That little gap's nothing that a rubber O-ring from a hardware store won't fix. It'd be an easy (not to mention cheap - they're like 3 cents) to keep the threads from rusting under there.
I'll definetly be getting one of those S2K antennas soon. They look so much better than stock.

That's a GREAT idea! I was planning on getting a hacksaw and cutting down the post! I dont' know how good of an idea that would have been. And now I finally have something to use that $10 gift card from Home Depot that I got for Christmas!
Thanks!

Or, go into your girl friends cabinet and get some of her nail polish. Same difference.
I had a buddy use thread lock, and it worked to well, and he snapped his antenna off when he tried to remove it.
JasonH 03-17-2005, 06:21 PM The threads won't rust. They're either brass or cadmium plated or something. If you do get an o-ring it would be mainly for looks. I've had my antenna on since July/August and the threads look the same as when I installed it.
Mr_Meaty 03-17-2005, 06:30 PM Yeah, I'm not worried about rust. I want it to be asthetically pleaseing. I mean, that's why I got the shorter antenna in the first place!
fastandcurious 03-17-2005, 06:42 PM what about just filing down the post 2-3mm? i think that should take care of the problem. (something i might do once my car comes in!!!! i'm so excited i already bought the friggin antenna but i still don't have the car! )
Petem 03-17-2005, 06:45 PM you guys witht he s2k antena's.. was the reception hurt at all???
djct_watt 03-17-2005, 06:57 PM I've tried all sorts of antennas. . . the S2k is as close as you'll come to stock, but it is not quite as good as the floppy jalopy antenna.
JasonH 03-17-2005, 07:05 PM you guys witht he s2k antena's.. was the reception hurt at all???Nope. Identical to stock.
djct_watt 03-17-2005, 07:17 PM I dunno if you are in an area with good reception, but I ran a test here in CA, on I-5, in an area with bad reception, while on a road trip. The full antenna was actually able to a pull in a few stations that the shorty couldn't. . . but all in all, you'd never notice the difference. It's a good antenna, but if you live in a shady area with low reception, you may want to stick with a stockie.
Petem 03-17-2005, 09:13 PM thanks for the responses... i may just try it since the cost does not seem to be too high..... and it does look alot better than the stocker....
240SXtoTC 03-18-2005, 12:06 AM stole your antenna? bunch of savages in this town.
S2000 antenna looks pretty good. Might just have to get me one.
KAOS29 03-18-2005, 12:51 AM eh.. i wish antanna was an option.. i dont listen to the dam radio!...
ChuChuRocket 03-19-2005, 05:15 PM I think Toyota should have made the antenna inside the glass like the Camary,
that way no one has to worry about jacked antennas.

the xb has it inside the glass too. i took the antenna off my car, makes it easier to put the car cover on, and i never listen to radio anyway
uwbradley 03-20-2005, 04:44 PM for sure- I will swing by home depot before I install mine and get a little rubber o-ring
Mr_Meaty 03-21-2005, 02:10 AM I got a rubber o ring for mine, and it looks better. It covers the little slit, but now it looks like my antenna is wearing a cock ring!

What size? Or did you take the antenna in to measure?
Mr_Meaty 03-21-2005, 01:32 PM I took the anntenna in and got a little round one that was the same size as the base. I think a bigger, flatter one would have been better. I'll post pics soon.

Mr_Meaty 03-28-2005, 03:31 AM Sorry. Just took pics this weekend. I'll try to post tonight or tomorrow.

No offense, but I think I like mine better without the o-ring.
fastandcurious 03-28-2005, 04:12 PM thanks for the pics! is it just me, or does it look like the o-ring sticks out a bit? i think if it was flush with the antenna it would look sweet.
Mr_Meaty 03-28-2005, 08:34 PM thanks for the pics! is it just me, or does it look like the o-ring sticks out a bit? i think if it was flush with the antenna it would look sweet.
Yeah, that's what I ment. I think I got the wrong size. but the gap is not deap, it's wide and shallow. I dont' know. I think I'm just gonna take it off.
Damn it, another $0.24 down the drain!
JasonH. Can you show me what URL you put in to link that? That's the part I couldnt' figure out. Oh, and no offense taken. I dont' really like it either!
Mr_Meaty 04-03-2005, 06:26 AM OK, I replaced the cockring with a flatter rubber washer but it was too thick so II cut the insides with a rasorblade. I think I'll bust out the dremel to make it flush, but it already looks better then the last washer. What do you think?

JasonH 04-03-2005, 05:31 PM ^Yeah, that looks good.
Maverick128 04-03-2005, 05:36 PM What size is that o-ring? I ordered an s2000 antenna and I'd like to know so I can put one of those in there too.
Mr_Meaty 04-04-2005, 03:31 PM Oddly enought, there was no size designation on the packaging. Only a barcode, so that's no help.
I brought the antenna into Home Depot and got one that the outside was the exact same size as the bottom of the S2000. It was wide, flat, and thick on the inside. I shaved almost all of the insides out with a rasor and smothed it out with the dremel. I dont' know how long it will last, but it was only $0.26!
IaMVinhamese 03-06-2006, 01:26 AM someone just stole my antenna today! i have to go to honda to get another element antenna. i finally picked up some thread lock but when i came out it was gone.
