New Rockford Fosgate 6.5's sound "coney"
Just what the title says. I just installed RF 6.5's in the doors, powered by a JL 300/4. (premium HU) Overall, it's a vast improvement over the original setup, but the RFs just sound a bit like the sound is being put through a paper cheerleading megaphone......
I mounted the 6.5's on rings that i cut out of 1/2" ply......
I also left the stock tweets hooked up to the stock line level outputs of the HU to get the highs off the floor a bit.
Is this acceptable behavior?
Should the spacers be thicker?
Would some kind of Dynamat help?
What would cause this?
BTW.....'08 Xb
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

wouldnt know without hearing it myself but it sounds like u have too much of the mids to the spkr. i installed 4 6x9 with a alpine m300 amp and they had great tone. try retuning the amp and cut the freq lower

also, make sure that your tweeters have crossovers or resistors to cut the mids from them if they dont already, since you are running them right off the headunit, rather then using them to complete the front stage with the 6.5's...
