This strut bar is listed almost everywhere for around $250

found it on Options Auto Salon for $83.00

I'm waiting for mine to come in, supposed to be getting it in either tomorrow or Thurs. PRETTY GOOD PRICE!

I asked them if it was a mistake, they said if it is they can't change the price for whoever's bought it, when they find out if it was a mistake the price will most likely be changed. Thought I'd share it with you guys, you can get it for $83 because of a typo they made, I don't think it'll last long though. :D

http://www.optauto.com/

search for "scion"

its on the first page of the search that comes up.

i talked to them last week and today. they're supposed to be in by the end of this week. as soon as its in they will ship out. they had to call dc sports to get the release date on when they could get them last week and dc told them they were on the way. i'll let you guys know if everything goes good with it. can't beat it for that much though, its a nice ___ strut bar.

That's a good deal on a nice part. Strut bars should not have a pivot bolt at the mounting points. The pivot reduces the effectiveness. This bar and the Hotchkiss bar are the only ones I've seen done correctly.

I'll just fab my own and spend about $15 on materials (chromemolly).

i dunno.... what pivot bolt are you talking about?

anyhow, i think im gonna pick up the tanabe bar soon, just because it's japanese and its only a little more. it's hollow aluminum, so it should be lighter than the DC steel bar, and i think it looks better.

Most strut bars have a plate that bolts to the strut towers with 2 brackets welded on, the cross bar is attached by a though bolt at each end. The bolts should be tightened very tight but it can still move. Welded 1 piece is better for performance use.

TRD also does their bar in the no pivot bolt manner.

Oh yea, DC Sports's MSRP for this item is 114.

Nevertheless 83 bux is still a good deal.

Look at the "store" link... Cusco, C-one, JIC, ScionFX all have the pivot bolt design. I have a BMW with the same design strut bar installed by a PO, it works well enough to tell the difference but a welded bar would work better (a future project). I'm glad to see more MFGs get away from the pivot bolt design.

woo... got my strut bar today from optauto.com/// didn't realize it was that hard to install a strut bar. the bolts are in such a tight spot in the rear that it takes a midgets hands to get them off, then the wires are in the way, then you gotta lift the front to get the bolts to go down, ect ect... does look nice though :D i'll post some pics tomorrow.

$96.00 w/tax and shipping included... not bad

lmao... i meant you gotta lift the front end enough to get the shock tower bolts to slide down so that you can get the strut bar plate over it... its really tight around the strut tower area and wires from the right block you from putting in the strut bar. i'll have to take pictures to show you what i mean, but i finally got it in there. took about 30-45 minutes and i was working as quick as i could, but i kept running into more problems along the way.

i think i know what you mean. and now know what you mean by midget hands i notice that the that it does look like a tight spot i wish this was just like a civic no wires in the way or tights sports its just slap on and tighten and spice it up a little with some garlic BAM! and its takes about half that time. thats what happen to me and my exhuast i was so excited i kept trying to hurry and i shoulda just took my time and chilled but hell now i was so happy i wanted it on there ASAP the bars are nice i will have pics up later on i havent started and i dont think i am going to do it myself i might have a shop install them for me

the strut bar is super easy to install once you know how and have a helper

loosen up all the nuts before lifting it, otherwise you could strip them

lift a side up, have someone push down on the tire for the bolts to come down a bit, finish getting the nuts off, take the plate off, put one side of strut bar on, thread bolts back on, so they are on but not tightened.

then repeat on other side. drop the car back down, and finish tightening them

<---did not remove cowl

i did mine on a lift @ work
very simple, yes the back bolts suck

and yes, the "adjustable" bars are weaker and more flexible
i also drilled out the nameplate and sent mine to a body shop to get painted body color
will post pics if u want them...
