Ok so i'm planing to drop the tc down and been looking at the deal at trd struts and springs deal on trdsparks and just wondering does it make any different if i use trd springs on stock struts? And will it shorten life span of the stock struts if I used trd springs, stein...etc....because i heard some people say that will make the struts blown. Need some advice please

You can use TRD springs on stock struts, but it will shorten their life... How much? Well, that's highly dependent on driving habits, and road conditions. I had my TRD springs on stock struts for only 7K miles before I noticed my struts started to go bad... If you can get TRD struts too, do that! They're made for stiffer/shorter springs and they are much more responsive...

It shouldn't affect the lifespan of the stock strut/shock by a lot. It's not a major drop. Now if you were on the S-techs, then yea, it will decrease the lifespan, but depends on road conditions and other factors.

Like I said, it's highly dependent on driving habits and road conditions... Some ppl get 100K miles out of their stock struts with TRD springs. Others (like me), only get a few thousand miles...

It's not just the drop of the spring that takes away from the strut lifespan. It's also the fact that TRD springs have a higher spring rate than the stock springs.

It's not necessary, but if CT roads are anything like Boston roads you'll go through your stock struts pretty quick....

Don't know but that was the dumbest thing Scion did IMO with the rs5 tc. Trd struts > stock struts. Mine lasted about 12k miles with trd springs and I couldn't stand the ride anymore. Not installing trd shocks at the same time was something I really regret.

I live in CT and the roads are fine =) Now if you live in new york or travel into new york often, you're in trouble owning a tc :-(

Over 15k on TRD springs and stock struts without a problem yet. I also have Hotchkis F+R sway bars and DC strut tower bar. Stays flat and rides smooth yet still responsive.
