View Full Version : MicroImage Yaris Sway looks to fit our xD's!!!
scionmag 08-21-2009, 06:06 AM So I stopped by MicroImage - Well... we did some looking at the rear of our xD and looks like the Yaris sway bar will work!!!
Hit up Garam at MicroImageonline.com and let him know that MicroCar Magazine sent you!!!
DeathMachine 08-21-2009, 12:09 PM Dude, almost all of the Yaris chassis parts will work on the xD... They are built on the same base.
sv650m 08-21-2009, 12:12 PM I posted a thread about this when I put the Yaris bar on my xD months ago.
xDTool 08-21-2009, 01:24 PM Excuse the guy for trying to add helpful information to the site, not everyone knows that they share the same base. Really the "duh" posts are unnecessary.
Other than the fitment, he is also going out and using his name to get you what seems to be a discount, sometimes I dont understand why people spread the hate for stuff like this.
Anyway, thanks for the info.
JDMJim 08-21-2009, 01:31 PM how is the sway bar thickness? the Yaris is a lighter slightly smaller car

From Looking at the site, and from what I can see, looks like 19 - 23mm

Unless there is something different that I am missing
mr_slim 08-21-2009, 03:46 PM nice bump!
CASTREX 08-21-2009, 08:57 PM The TRD swaybar for the xD is the same as the one for the Yaris... and its 19mm
Microimage offers a 19mm option and a 23mm for the hardcore folks.
One of the best suspension mods.
Get it cheaper from microimageonline.com... Top notch service!!
scionmag 08-23-2009, 06:22 AM Thank everyone that was helping to explain things to others... lol
I was on vacation in LA and stopped by to see Garam at MicroImage... He is the man for Yaris / XD parts...
If you up to the best handling go with his 23mm - its also priced way better than the TRD and Garam will never steer you wrong.
I will be picking this up for my project xD - Will match up great with the Tokico Shocks and struts I have...
Only item that may not work out with our rides is the rear brace... It did not seem to clear the DC-Sport exhaust we are sporting...
Any other ideas... let me know...

Too bad you've already got the Tokico stuff. Though great stuff it is, especially for a lowered xD, all the coilovers they make for the Yaris will fit the xD...

However the xD is a tad bit heavier than the Yaris... so not sure how the springs are... but the tokico stuff is great... very happy with it...
notoriouseyk 08-25-2009, 03:12 AM will the camber kit and the shocks work for the xd? what about the upper strutt bars and stuff?

Camber and Castor parts SHOULD fit... But I'm not sure. As for sway bars and strut tower braces, all of that is shared so yes it will fit.
Crazyhorse6901 09-22-2009, 06:48 PM I was thinking about going with the TRD Lowering Springs, TRD Shock Absorbers and the TRD Sway Bar on my 2010 XD... Question???
1. Will I have the ability for 100% alignment after the springs have settled?
2. Has anyone had any long term issues with such modification's? ( Any issues with part failure's ETC...) Thanks for your help!!!

I dont have any alignment issues nor issues with part failure, and I am on the TRD's... been on them since day 1, which was back in June 2007...
TheJonas53 09-26-2009, 02:51 PM I just ordered the 23mm rear sway bar. Hope to have it by next weekends autox event.
c2iix 09-26-2009, 07:34 PM im trying to decide whether to get the 19mm or the 23mm .. what do you guys think?

23mm... as thick as the TRD
ROCKLANDTOYOTA 09-28-2009, 08:49 PM 23mm... as thick as the TRD
TRD is 19mm, that 23mm is EXCLUSIVE to microimage.....
slim99 10-11-2009, 04:28 AM NO - you will not have ability for 100% alignment. You can't align the rear fully without modification. It's a camber issue - it's not a big deal, but you cannot compensate with stock parts.
Frankly, I am surprised that folks on this board are telling you that you can get 100% spec alignment! You may want to try different boards. I have the paperwork and explanation from Toyota to prove that lowering the xD takes the car out of spec in the rear.
I did have the full alignment done after settling and was given a report on the rear to explain the situation. I'm at 15K miles and with normal tire rotation, I have not noticed ANY performance / wear issues that would cause me any concern.

JDMJim 10-12-2009, 09:20 PM my srpings still have yet to settle. but the car drives fairly straight. I want the big sway bar!!!!
TRDxD 10-13-2009, 03:00 AM JDMJim haven't you had your springs on for like half a year or so? I thought I remembered reading you installed them around the same time that I bought mine...which was half a year ago...
JDMJim 10-14-2009, 03:55 AM bought car winter of 08. like february 08. I'm getting the hang of getting this car to turn and it's being really smooth with the steering input. too quick and the power steering seems to "mess up". the car gets all crazy then. BUt yeah, I still swear the RS1's sit lower than mine.
TheJonas53 10-15-2009, 01:30 AM Thats odd that your springs havent settled fully yet. I got my 23mm sway bar sitting in a box in my room right now. Come spring it will be on the car.
JDMJim 10-15-2009, 04:12 AM come down here and put it on my car!
TheJonas53 10-16-2009, 11:51 PM come down here and put it on my car!
Get your own. Im not sharing. :icon_razz:
TheJonas53 10-29-2009, 12:29 PM Put the 23mm rear sway on last night. I was going to wait til spring but a new issue came up. I put on a new set of snow tires and took the car on a curvy road and the combination of the soft snow tires and sway gave me an uneasy feeling. So I put the sway bar on and took that road again and pushed the car and it felt amazing. Now I want to put my Rotas back on and test it but im going to wait.
Garm, yes Garm not Garam lol...over at: http://www.microimageonline.com/ is the man when it comes to Yaris products, you guys should see what he is doing with his Turbo Yaris = 356WHP :eyes:
