Want to take a look at the speaker on the left side of dashboard. Thinking about upgrading and also wanna tighten it down a little,,,,little rattle going on. No biggie. How do you safely remove the speaker grill?

 

Just pop it out using a thin flat blade screwdriver.

 

Do I pop it from the "front" facing me or one of the "sides"?

 

stick a small flat head under the side facing you. Pry up a bit, and then work it off.

 

insert the flat head into the fron of the grill and apply some upward pressure against it and it should pop up

 

If you are going to swap you will have to fab a custom wood/plastic/or metal piece. Prefer metal! There really are no 2 1/2 speakers on the market. Most likely you will goto a 3 1/2. Fab a tab whala, your in biz!

 

I have the same rattles in both speaker grilles on the dash as well.To busy today doing the "honey do's" around the house.Maybe I'll try next Weekend.

 

would tightening the speaker down solve the rattle. I have noticed this in mine as well. Seems like its the plastic grill piece itself. If thats the case, what would you use to deadn the rattle???? Double sided tape maybe?

 

I fixed mine today while at work.The speakers where tight,it was the grilles that where creating the rattle.I bought some stuff made by 3M,it comes in strips,black in color and kinda "gummy".I put it on the inside edges of the grill and no more rattles so far

 

yah, i got the rattle too, just haven't got around to checkin it out. thanx for the info

Not sure what it's called but you could also try some 3M double sided tape too. You can buy it at most Auto Parts stores.

This may be a little too late,but hopefully will help those in need in the future.

 

a little advice for everyone out there. dont use a flat head screwdriver, you have a large chance of marring your dashboard.

instead, use a small flexable putty knife, works better, and you dont have the chance of messing up the dashboard.

hope this little info helps everyone out.
