Default Weird Metal Rolling Sound At Times When I Break

This may not be so much related specifically to the xD model as a whole, maybe just my car in particular. But I figured I'd post and see if anyone else experienced a similar problem.

At times when I break, either slow and softly or at a fast halt it sounds like there is a metal ball of some sort rolling from front to back right near my front, right side wheel wall. I'm thinking it's the break itself, or something metal really is rolling around near that area. I can't seem to narrow it down without taking it into a shop. It doesn't always do it, but it happens enough and annoys the ____ outta me.

Has anyone experienced this with their xD, or have a suggestion as to what it may be?

I called the dealership about it to see if it may fall under a warranty fix, but they said they wouldn't know until they put the car up and they may have to tear the dash out, depending. Which they quoted at start, $200.

The best description of the noise is a metal rolling sound. It's not a screech from a bad break, but literally sounds like a ball in a track rail. If I break immediately after to hear it again, nothing.

Thanks for any input/help.

my tc does this. I think it is the brakes seeing as i need new pads, but some more info would be appreciated.

Usually you get a high pitch squeal when you need brakes, but when you hear metal to metal like that it means you have no pad left and are grinding the rotor. Replace ASAP!

But, if it were grinding, wouldn't it happen every time i brake? I've never had it happen more then once daily.

And for me, I can clearly hear rotation as it slows down. It does it once per revolution of the wheel. Would that mean somethings wrong with the rotor?

IDK just throwing ideas around. Im replacing the pads tomorrow BTW.

Well if you are hearing sounds inherent of rotation it could mean a number of things, the top two being a warped rotor or an out-of-balance wheel.

About the metal ball sound, it could be many things. I don't think something is loose in your xD, but maybe you dropped a nut or something somewhere inside the car or the engine bay?
