So after buying my new set of APT fog light, and turinig them on for about 30 min while driving I noticed one side of the foglight was literally fogging up a bit. I had this problem before. Take in note it is raining out here and a bit humid. DOes the fogs lights have this problem when it is humid or raining outside? My driver side is fine but the passenger side I noticed this when I got home. Let the pic talk for itself. Any suggestions? Could it be the HiDs?

It was raining when I took the pic so the water you see is on the outside. The moisture or condensation is on the inside. My other fog is fine. Here it is...

does anyone know a for sure way to fix up the issues? im starting to see more and more people having problems with their APT/VRD fog lights. some have said sealing it up completely tight could actually cause more problems because they said something about it needs heat to escape or something like that. anyways the point is...anyone find a long term or even a perminate fix?

The fog is gone, it is still raining out here, hopefully it wont happen again, maybe while driving and the heat of the lights . I dunno I'm 2 tired good night..

I had this same problem when I got mine. When I changed the bulbs out I accidently ripped the rubber boot that creates the seal behind the light. I did the broke a*s method (no silicone on hand) and used electrical tape. I made sure the inside of the light was dry using a hair dryer. Once that was dry I taped the crap out of it and it's worked fine. Since this I've put in HID bulbs and re-taped and still no problems. I would use silicone but I've gotten lazy with it. I've been behind and under the bumper too many times. lol

so just by resealing the glass to housing should do it? white/clear silicone or black?

Use RTV silicone. That works the best. Did you lose the boot? also, i would take it out and let it cure over night to be honest. Any humidity will destroy the silicone.

no the boot is still there...ok so i should pull them out blow dry them reseal then screw bulb in seal behind bulb then let them dry in side the house then put back in then

Do they even make legitimate APT/VRD fogs anymore? Maybe these are all ebay fakes? I see some on ebay with the seller apt.auto but maybe the original apt got bought out or went under and someone copied the design. this could cause quality issues.

Well I received mine last week in the mail and installed them this past weekend. It's been raining pretty bad down here and so far I've had no fogging issues. Though when I did install them I did seal up the rubber boot up with electrical tape and taped up were the wires come out of the boot also.

Yeah mine are in the "U" shape as well. I didn't know the older ones came with a "L" shape breather.

All I did was put a bead of silicone around the backside where the glass and plastic meet.

Problem Solved!!!

For anything to fog up or have condensation means the two humidity levels ( in this case the fogs, and outside humidity) have different percentiles.

Most foglights have a hole in them to allow for the hot air to leave the housing. You could silicone all the cracks and other areas that allow for the moisture to creep in, but if you seal the ventilation hole, you're going to melt/fry the hardware inside the housings eventually.

The only way to have them never fog up is to have the housings free of any moisture and sealed up on a very low humidity day.

any hole, or crack including a ventilation port will allow for moisture to get in.
