Default Maybe I don't want a Scion...

I dunno... I'm starting to think I don't. I just borrowed my old car from my father(as a favor to him since my little brother who lost his license this year needs to be driving a registered vehicle to keep him out of trouble), and I realized one thing. Even though the car is far from fuel efficient, I missed one thing about it. The cruise control. I know that cruise isn't an option in the xA. I think it's in the xB, but I'm not sure if I want an xB really. It just doesn't seem to ride quite as smooth as an xA.

The big thing is, I really want cruise control, power windows and locks, and a remote starter, and I'd like to get as close to $15k as possible, if not under. I also want side air bags, which is why with the xA coming standard with those, it almost seemed like a good idea. For some reason though, I thought I had remembered it having the cruise control option, but it turns out they don't. It wasn't a dealbreaker immediately until I realized how much I missed cruise when I used itlast night.

So, if I don't get a Scion, it's not a big deal. I'm still getting a Toyota one way or another. I wasn't even interested in the Scion until someone told me it was made by Toyota.

Oh, and the thing needs to be fuel efficient.

I like how easy it is to get in and out of the Scion xA, and I like how I feel like I'm not sitting off the road, but I don't feel like I'm a mile up. If I don't end up getting an xA, does anyone have any suggestions as to waht I should take for a test drive to see what I like?

No offense but for everything you seem to want, I don't know how you could beat the value of a Scion xA by only having to sacrifice cruise control.

I'm pretty sure you could get non-Toyota cruise control added anyhow.

But really, what are you expecting to get in that price range with EVERYTHING you want?

Also, if you put a post like this in a forum for people that love their Scion's, you're a masochist.

Actually the side airbags are not "standard" on the xA. It's a factory option just like on my tC. But if cruise control is the only thing keeping you from getting an xA then that probibly means you are looking for a reason not to get it. Sounds like you don't really want the car. Just personal opinion ( gotta use my psych degree for someting LOL)

Like tCinHou said, side airbags aren't standard. You have to order the car with them and (I think) it's about $660 or something like that. As far as cruise control goes, it's not a Scion option for the xA, but your dealer can install the Toyota cruise controll for around $500 on an xA. Look at it this way, if you get an xA with automatic trans, side airbags, Toyota cruise control, and aftermarket keyless entry/remote start, you'll still be below the $15,000 mark and you'll have everything you wanted (in an awesome car).

The dealership charging $500 for cruise control is populated by thieves. I figured my local dealer was to high with his quote of $350. I can get the Rostra cruise control from the factory distributor for $187 and install it myself. If I pay $187 you can bet that Toyota dealerships are paying less.

I agree that $500 for cruise control through the Toyota dealer is a rip-off, but so is pretty much anything you get there. At least the unit will have a warranty and it won't void any warranty on your car. I'd be very leary of installing something like cruise control myself. You get that wrong, and you could get killed or kill others.

Cruise control IS and option on the xA. My dealer offered an aftermarket one for 360 installed. Didn't need one since I rarely ever used it on my last car.

Side airbags are not standard on the xA. It is a factory option added at port.

Out of all the new cars in the 13-14k price range, none offers more than the xA, period.

Oh.... the dealer was trying to tell me I couldn't get cruise in it. Buy you guys say they can just install the Toyota cruise control in it? Well then... I think I may have a winner!

I do really want this car. My only thing about the cruise is that I forgot just how much I missed it until I used it last night and today... I really really really really really like it.

Right... side air isn't standard. For some reason I got mixed up. Guess I've been looking at too many cars the last few months.

Ok, so it can have everything that I want...hrmm...

Now to get back to taking care of that insurance issue I guess.

It got everyone's attention, didn't it? ;)
