View Full Version : What springs do yall reccomend?
The5ickne55 09-05-2009, 06:55 AM I have the stock 16'' tires on the car right now, I am looking to get about a 1-2'' drop.. Up til now I have been hell bent on the TRD springs, then everyone at meets was like "TRD's will give you a ____ty ride " etc
Alot of people have been saying Tein's ... what do yall think? Also, how low can I go before I start rubbing on the 16''s?
kingof253 09-05-2009, 08:12 AM the trd springs don't sit low enough for my tastes. I have the eibach sportlines which are a 2" drop in the front and rear. The tein s-techs look really nice as well (2.5 front 2 rear). I've had my eibachs for over a year and love the way they sit. BTW i have a tc...
katchkillah 09-05-2009, 10:02 AM not sure on the s-tech's. on the xb they were kind stiff. and wasn't happy and then went to coilovers. this time with the xd just went straight to coils cause didn't want to go thru the multiple installs. but the s-techs did give the car a nice drop. hehehehee.
YELOSUB 09-05-2009, 05:31 PM I'm on TRD's obviously with the RS1 and the ride is fine...It's just not low enough for my taste, only 1.5 inches roughly...I will be installing different springs and selling my TRD's only to go lower NOT because of ride quality...Im running 18 inch rims but running a 225 / 40 / 18 inch tire...The ride quality has a lot to do with what size tire and rim size you are running and SIDEWALL you decide to run on your plus sized rims...
RoadKing 09-07-2009, 03:44 AM ...I will be installing different springs and selling my TRD's...
How much? I'd be interested. PM sent
YELOSUB 09-07-2009, 04:18 AM Got your PM, thanks for your interest...I PM'd you back...

So are you saying the s-tech springs for the xD sit lower than the DF210's...I keep reading conflicting reports that the s-techs only lower it 1.5 inches but per their site it shows it lowers it much lower than that...Can anyone confirm? I want the lowest spring without going coilover's...
scionmag 09-07-2009, 04:44 AM I am running TRDs with Tokico HPs...
notoriouseyk 09-07-2009, 06:14 AM I just had my TRD's installed...its not as bad as everyone saids it is...Feels like every other spring ive had on different cars....
Murphys_Law 09-07-2009, 06:15 AM i love my stechs but ive got a tc, dont know how theyd work on an xd, never ridden in one with stechs
misformartin 09-07-2009, 09:06 PM im on tanabe coilovers their awsome... i had df210 and their were awsome as well : )
xDTool 09-08-2009, 01:14 PM I'm on 16's and TRD's. Never had a problem with the ride, they are slightly stiffer, but not even close to coilovers. The only beef I have with TRD's is the rear drop, 1/2 - 1 inch or so more in the rear and they'd be perfect for what I want. I also like yelowsub will probably move down to df210's in the future and do away with the TRD's. I think they look nice and aggressive with 18's on the car though
cuball 09-09-2009, 12:58 AM Actually I went from DF210 to Ksport coilovers, and the ride actually improved. But I was running the TRD struts, and I think that is what made the ride so stiff.
The5ickne55 09-11-2009, 05:15 PM So I should order these?

I am on the stock tire still (16's) but I don't any chance of rubbing or anything. Another factor in my lowering is there are a ton of flooded ( 6'' of water ) parking lots in the area... so I don't know if dropping the car as low as I can go is a good idea or not

Unless you go with coilovers, you will not have a rubbing issue as long as whatever wheels are on your car fit properly, offset and wheel/tire dimensions.
those look like a good deal.
As far as height, I think you'll be ok, you just need to monitor what your driving through closely, which you should be doing even without a drop.
I wouldnt take the xd through anything deeper than a couple inches if i could avoid it, especially here where a couple ofinches might end up being something way deeper, even at stock height.
Just the way I am. I think you'll be fine
YELOSUB 09-12-2009, 07:37 AM Seems like a decent price for the Tanabe DF210's...Anyone know where they are cheaper? The price they showed DID NOT include shipping but it is still a decent price...
rude_xD 09-13-2009, 06:56 PM i have df210s with 16s and i love the drop in the back but you still see some wheel well up front. i picked mine up from fastscions.com and that site is much cheaper
xD_kidd91 09-14-2009, 02:51 PM df210's with tc wheels for awhile now and im satisfied. nor rubbing but gotta slow down on speedbump $170 shipping inc. from ptuning.com. I just wished the front springs would drop abit more. (2finger gap, 1 would of been better) might save up for coilovers

Since its the front springs, just cut a coil...:P
slim99 09-17-2009, 01:56 AM TRD shock / struts / springs / sway.
The whole package from Sparks comes with a "TRD Sportivo" badge for the rear.
The drop and stiffness are great. I chickened out after buying the DF210s - I just didn't want to go that low, and I am glad I did not.
The TRDs produce a VERY noticeable difference in handling and are only harsh over the worst roads. I would not want to experience the DFs around Northern Virginia / DC roads.
I can say my car is 100% TRD - no third party stuff.
