Sorry if this is redundant. I want my tc to feel "solid" when cornering. I am not talking crazy speed, but the normal 60-70 mph cornering should not make me hit the brakes. I have no accessories yet. What parts do I need to achieve this? I have read on this forum that I need a front/rear sway bar and front/rear strut bar? What are these and how do they improve performance? How much are they? What else do I need. As you can see I am a newbie. Forgive my ignorance.. just trying to learn. :idea: Thanks.

in other words, shocks, springs, sway bars that make the car stay level(neutral) during cornering and better tires, the full suspension shouldn't cost you more than $800 - the TRD suspension (shocks, springs and rear sway bar) cost me $480 and $180 installation and $80 tire alignment so that's $640. A front strut bar won't do much for our cars, and can actually cause less cornering ability depending on the rest of your setup
and BTW, if you can corner at 70mph I tip my hat to you

Now u see how "un-racing" I am. :( I didnt mean corner at 70.. but at a reasonable speed, not race-track speed. But thanks a lot fot the info. I am gonna look into this, and try to install it if possible. Is TRD the best place to go if I need everything you mentioned? Do I need the shocks and springs if I dont want to lower the car? Can the rear sway bar alone provide the needed stiffness... in short... max performance for the cheapest price with the lowest amount of accessories.... I know this is the motto everyone is going by... :doh: Thanks again...

If you want to spend around $300 what i would do is get the hotchkis sway bar set, and get them installed at a Scion Dealer. (Call around b/c not all of them will install aftermarket parts) If you do get it installed at a Scion Dealer, they cannot pull the it wasn't installed properly your warrenty is void b.s. If you dont care about your warrenty, get it done wherever. If your willing to spend around 600-800 I would definatly reccommend the TRD shocks and struts which will not void your warrenty and give the car a nice handling benefit. Coilovers will cost you significantly more, and i will pretty much gaurantee that no dealer will install them so you could kiss your warrenty goodbye.
