Is it an option on Scions to have window etching? I have it but my salesman says I shouldnt because it isnt available. Did I get lucky or is he wrong or what?

the vin number is etched onto the windows...it makes it harder to part it out if the vehicle is stolen

you can pay a dealership to etch your car or go to the police and have it done for free .

i wish i would have know about the feebie. I paid $125 for mine, at the dealership. The dealer told me that i would get a discount from my insurance agency. I paid it, then found out that i only got a $10 credit for having it done. Bastards.

You could do it yourself if you were ambitious. Pick up some etch cream at your local craft store.

On a side note, graffiti writers use etch liquid in their markers to hit window tags that can't be buffed.

The VIN is not etched in mine, but theres a number that is unique to my car which Toyota keeps track of. It was free.

I just found out that in New York City, VIN etching is done for free by the Police department. I'm gonna call tomorrow for schedules
