View Full Version : Scion xB cup holder mod
SilyOtter 02-01-2005, 10:37 PM Just wondering has anyone done a mod to increase the size of teh cup holders on teh xB? maybe something big enough to hold a 64oz double big gulp from 7-11? just annoying holding drinks while driving .. lol that sounds bad but its the truth
bamabox 02-01-2005, 11:07 PM There's this plastic contraption that fits on the bottom of a Big Gulp cup and will fit in a stock size cup holder in most vehicles.I have seen them at 7-11's before for sale,I think they went for $3.99.
hotbox05 02-01-2005, 11:29 PM hmm the rear cupholder is larger so... maybe
Sciond 02-02-2005, 01:32 AM just drive with one hand..............
its_ikon 02-02-2005, 02:24 AM how about you drink a normal size drink?
bBTOY 02-02-2005, 08:13 AM I use a 32 oz. Plastifoam cup and that has NO problems .
Daewootech 02-02-2005, 09:27 AM Mc donalds has those cups that taper on the bottom, lol
but yeah like bamabox said, theres usualy cupholder adapters that let you stick larger cups in, like those super large "pee-maker" cups
chadfo 02-02-2005, 11:16 AM I'm surprised 7-11 hasn't converted to a tapered cup yet. Every place else I know of has.
hotbox05 02-02-2005, 11:43 AM I'm surprised 7-11 hasn't converted to a tapered cup yet. Every place else I know of has.
so they can try and sell that 3.99 contraption.
SilyOtter 02-03-2005, 05:14 AM hmmm i had one but the damn 64 oz cup hits the bottom of the dash... and why such a big drink?.. well whrn ur thirsty you're thirsty :P
atomoverride 02-03-2005, 05:19 AM DAMN a bladder buster! sometimes you want to eat your 7-11 hotdog and 64oz orange soda.
Daewootech 02-08-2005, 07:39 AM strap a camel back behind your seat, and your ready t o go :P
RacerxB 02-08-2005, 08:57 AM Don't Drink and Drive.
TJandBOXCARWILLIE 02-08-2005, 05:59 PM Don't Drink and Drive.Did you know, in some states, that is also true for any drink? That it's illegal to drink and drive with any liquid?
It's weird.
Here's a question: Does the bB have drink holders as well? I understand that a lot of cars from Europe, for example, don't have drink holders, so I wondered about Japan...
Anyway. I'm always afraid anything really tall will fall over, so I take my 20 ounce CokeŽ bottle and use that holder in the dash, above the glove box, to hold it.
TheScionicMan 02-08-2005, 06:04 PM The bB didn't have floor shift, the shifter is on the column. So they don't have a center console for a cupholder like we do. They have slide out drink holders that come out around the a/c controls. I hated that design on my Toyota pickups, because they bounce and slosh and they also usually hold your drink right near the heater vents...
For cans and small bottles, I use those thin can coolies. They are small enough to fit in and give enough spacing to keep the can from tipping. Like a little gasket. Those Scion sweatbands work too...
1_Sick_XB 02-08-2005, 06:19 PM Only us americans need huge oversized drinks and meals.
Orataro 02-08-2005, 07:07 PM Only us americans need huge oversized drinks and meals.
That's for sure!
I have the bB cup holder in my box and I'm lucky if I can get a 16oz. cup in there. I also have the JDM armrest and that only holds those small 8oz. cans.
Lonely_Raven 02-08-2005, 07:25 PM No drinking or eating in my boxen!!
I use the rear cup holder to transport a drink home though.
I did that last night for the first time while getting something
for my mom.
bBTOY 02-09-2005, 09:44 AM That is why there is cup holders , so you can have a drink and then cup holder it , so it doesnt tip and cause an accident . I just go to Smart & Final and buy 32oz plastifoam cups with lids , those things when the lid is on right CAN tip and Not drip .
Scionman , What does the JDM Armrest with holders look like ? I hate those ones in the dash , they always broke .
Raven have a Drink , but No eating in the boxen .
I have used that HOLE in the dash by the glove for my Cell , and its great when charging it too.
What Have All of you guys done with your HOLE ?
hotbox05 02-09-2005, 09:49 AM the glove hole i use for the lil cup type of air freshener.
bBTOY 02-09-2005, 10:02 AM Hey HotBox05,
How good does your front licence plate holder work ?
Does it rattle or move and scratch the bumper ?
hotbox05 02-09-2005, 10:32 AM it does none of the above. i use thin strips on automotive 3m on the back of the plate and its a cush lil bumper , no scratches i just took the plate off yesterday and other than like 2 small scratches and dirt behind the bumper it's fine. i love it. i made it from home depot supplies cost me about 7.00
TokyoRaver 02-09-2005, 11:53 AM yeah it's so annoying having to hold my 40oz Old English in my hand while I'm driving. But 22 oz Heineken fits fine
Lonely_Raven 02-09-2005, 11:53 AM I was trying to figure out myself what to use to protect the
bumper from the plate frame. I'd like to get a nice triple
plated chrome frame rather then the plastic dealer frame,
but I imagine it would scratch in a big way!
Only us americans need huge oversized drinks and meals.
well if we ate smaller portions of food we wouldn't be so over weight!!!

No you'd just eat more smaller portions. It's American culture to be excessive.
TheScionicMan 02-09-2005, 04:54 PM If anyone hasn't already, watch the movie Supersize Me... It should be mandatory in school, just like Red Asphalt...
TJandBOXCARWILLIE 02-09-2005, 06:27 PM If anyone hasn't already, watch the movie Supersize Me... It should be mandatory in school, just like Red Asphalt...What goes on in that movie? Peeps keep telling me I should see SUPERSIZE ME....
TheScionicMan 02-09-2005, 06:40 PM The guy eats NOTHING but McDonald's for one month. If he can't get it at McD's he won't eat it, even water. He tries a variety and always supersizes when asked. Not normally a fast food guy, he has regular checkups, blood tests, the works. it will really make you think twice... and people should.
Make sure to check the special features section where they put various McD sandwiches and fries in glass containers and watch the decompostion process over a few weeks...
xbox83 02-09-2005, 06:58 PM big gulps huh?.....alright...well...see ya later
bBTOY 02-10-2005, 06:43 AM I was trying to figure out myself what to use to protect the
bumper from the plate frame. I'd like to get a nice triple

I found out when I tried to put a nice metal frame on the back plate , that it Only rattled really bad when I closed the door or when I just drove . The dealer plate I have has that little TAB that Holds the Plate to the frame and does not let it rattle or even touch the car . Every time Im around plates I look for the tab kind of plate holders , but I can`t find a good one . So Im still showing my dealers name .
Old_Punk 02-10-2005, 11:42 AM My problem is the opposite.
Normal sized cups and cans just kind of teeter around in the cup holder. There aren't even any rubber flaps that adjust for size like on many other cup holders.
So right now the passenger cup holder is mostly for spare change.
I really liked the cup holders in my GMC pickup. The whole thing is lined with a rubber insert that lifts out for cleaning.
But 62 ounces? That's like drinking five cans at once. Sheesh. I once saw a top executive from 7-11's parent company joke that the next step up from the 62 ouncer is a keg you wear on your back.
TheScionicMan 02-10-2005, 04:49 PM Me and my co-worker take our 64 ounce mugs to 7/11 - 1.09 for a refill. We get comments from strangers on the street, etc., it's pretty funny. At RainForest Cafe giftshop, they have a 100 ounce mug - HooWah...
Old Punk - try something like these. They make a great can gasket. Without it, my 16 oz RockStar will tip and spill...
