tire pressure light but air is fine??help
tire pressure light went on last night but i checked the pressure and front were 32 n back tires were 29. is there something im missing? does the light indicate other things?
owner's manual. open it, read it, learn from it.
what year tc? stock or aftermarket tires?
05-06 use ABS wheel speed sensors to monitor tires. it has to be reset sometimes after rotating tires. if tire pressure is fine, then reset the TPMS.
07 and newer use sensors located in the OEM tires that have to be programmed to the car. when you swap wheels, you have to swap the sensors too.

lol. smart asses. its a 2005 new wide oval tires. i did reset the light last week jus to see if it wud come up again. n it did last night. ever since i put new tires on a month ago the car pulls to the right.
lol drax. you are totaly wrong about swaping sensor's if you change the tire's the sensor's will work on and hub of the car.
so to the OP. 29 is to low anything past 30 the light will come on. i useually have my tire pressure set at 35 all the way around. unless im at the track. do that then press the button in ur glove compartment. and drive around see what happen's
i didn't say if you change the tires, i said if you change the wheels. the wheels are where the sensors are located, so if you put new wheels on your car (and presumably new tires, you have to take the TPMS sensors out of the OEM wheels and tires and put them in the new wheel and tire set.
now if you were talking about rotating the tires causing the TPMS light to come on, that is possible if say you're running considerably higher/lower psi in your tires, rotate them, suddenly the front and rear tires have different PSI, and are rolling at different speeds than before, so the car would suddenly think that the front or rear tires have lost a considerably amount of PSI and trigger the (!) light to come on.

and if you have new rims man.. you need to calibrate the sensors... with all the tires being at the same psi. hold the tps button for a long time. it'll blink a few times turn off and blink some more. I think thats how i did mine.. or if it doesnt work there is instructions on how to do it in the manual..
hope it helps.

oh geez people.
okay... he's got an '05.. no sensors in the wheels to deal with..
it's going off the ABS.... that's clear, yes?
tires.. need to be 32/29... that's absolutely fine.. no need to be higher unless you really want to..
NOW... the ISSUE and most likely cause..
he reset the light... whereas he probably needed to REINITIALIZE the system..
when you guys/gals learn the difference between the two... you got your answer.
at least one person in this thread got the right idea.

light is on at due to 29 psi? really? the manual says front keep at 32 n rear keep at 29. but yea i put all of em at 32 so ill see wat happens. thanks btw jus read 2011 scion will b 2.0 rear wheel 200 hp. were r the pix dammit??
nah the rear tires are supposed to be at 29 psi. so that isn't the problem.
when the TPMS gets reset, you can have your wheels on very low PSI, it just uses the reset to establish a baseline, and when it deviates from that baseline, it alerts you.
