View Full Version : Ancla in ATL on a 08 auto xb
Ravisxb 09-14-2009, 05:59 PM hi im starting a new thread on this because im less than a week away on getting my kit from anclamotorsports. those who are wondering how this kit will work i will let you know as soon as i install it and ill add many pics also. so far as cost goes im under $4000 with pnp injectors, the turbo kit, aem wideband and boost. just let me know if you have any questions.
FromTheOld 09-14-2009, 09:53 PM The kit normally sells for 4k. How did you score that price?
Ravisxb 09-15-2009, 02:08 AM andy sponsered me and helped me out. he convinces me because the cx racing kit is just too cheap and i wasnt looking for much boost. so i figured if he helped me ill show his kit off and so im hoping to get it in friday. he said hes been running this kit without management and ive talked to some tc guys that have also been running it without EM. he did say its not lean and its not to rich. its almost perfect.
coryjames 09-15-2009, 09:19 PM it will be unfun till you get managment it will stumble get stuck lean all sorts of great things get a way to tune it

ScionFred 10-29-2009, 06:31 AM Yeah you can see his trans dipstick.
Us auto guys are easy to spot due to our large, hard-to-miss dipsticks.
coryjames 10-29-2009, 12:15 PM skewl is fer fules
Ravisxb 10-29-2009, 05:44 PM school is good for you lol. the better job i get the more money i invest in my car
coryjames 10-29-2009, 05:59 PM its a shame how todays schools (high schools) make you think that without college you will be poor. Yes it helps you get a job with a higher pay scale but there are other jobs. All my friends that went to college are currently unemployed or felt there degrees were better suited for a server job at the local dennys. But what it comes down to is todays youth is lazy as all get up and scared to do actuall work. Kids these days need to know what a hard job is like to have a better apreciation for life. lol
Ravisxb 10-30-2009, 02:52 AM well currently im on my third year in college for a business degree, and i work for a big electronic company called brandsmart usa, which put circuit city outta business in GA, but im basically getting a degree just to get it, i am indian and all were good for is owning hotels and, gas stations, and subways, i am taking over all my dads businesses. lol im not that lazy now. haha
coryjames 10-30-2009, 12:21 PM heck yeah around here you got gas stations on lock like a fat kid with cake.
Steve60 10-30-2009, 12:46 PM College is fine. BUT..... Education today does not optimize ability.
The most creative people don't sit behind a desk, they are hands on.
That said, Ravisxb, glad to see another DYI chalange.
mnscionxb 10-30-2009, 05:02 PM my ex went to school she now works part time at walmart and owes $80'000 for loans lol
coryjames 10-30-2009, 05:21 PM word to the wise don't bypass the bad word filters you will get a temp bad revise it or ur running the chance of a mod seeing it
XD40tC 10-30-2009, 07:33 PM Yeah its pretty lame you'll get banned...
burstaneurysm 10-31-2009, 03:58 AM ^ what they said. Keep it clean guys.

Pics or it didn't happen!
Ravisxb 09-08-2010, 11:14 PM ill try to get you guys some pics in a day or so. so far the guage reads 4psi which is plenty enough for me. it stalled on me once but hasnt happened after that. i do have a cel, vsc light, and traction light. what can i do to get rid of these? please help
buickid 09-08-2010, 11:54 PM The shop should probably figure those out, since its their kit.

Take it back to Ancla... or have someone with a scan tool read and reset the codes or buy a scan tool and do it yourself. You're gonna need a scan tool eventually so my advice is to get it now and save yoursef a lot of time in the long run. It's essential to know what the codes are for. Even with expensive management and a pro tune it's still common to get a CEL now and then after boosting a NA car. Over time the ECU will hopefully adapt to the changes and you'll get less CELs or even none.
Just for fun, I'm guessing that you have one or more of the following:
P0101, P0102, P0103, P0420, P0136, P0137

ScionFred 09-10-2010, 07:21 AM Looks good! It apears that I'm not the only turbo-charged AT XB any longer. You should have had them add a ATF cooler during the install but you can always add one later on. Just don't beat the snot out of the tranny without one.
Bubba's Jujak 09-11-2010, 03:33 AM Nice having a turbo, just joined the forum... how are you enjoying it?
pyroman131 09-11-2010, 11:58 AM my ex went to school she now works part time at walmart and owes $80'000 for loans lol
I bet that feels good since she's your ex!
I hope my ex will fail. lol She's in school, but she's an idiot.
Pasquale 09-11-2010, 08:15 PM Hahahaha
Turbo looks great man! Just to chime in a little bit about the college discussion... Its not the kids fualt for believing what thier parents and teacher tell them. Kids today are taught to believe that if they bypass actual hands on learning by going to college they will be the boss right off the bat. The plain and simple truth is you cant be somebodies boss unless you can do their job better then they can (Something My Dad always told me)
ScionFred 09-17-2010, 05:19 AM Updates? Any CELs or other issues with this kit?
Ravisxb 09-21-2010, 03:06 AM i do have the check engine light, vsc light and traction light. i need help getting rid of some of these lights. the codes i throw is p0101 and p0192. other than that the car runs great.
ScionFred 09-21-2010, 06:34 AM i do have the check engine light, vsc light and traction light. i need help getting rid of some of these lights. the codes i throw is p0101 and p0192. other than that the car runs great.
The P0101 is "MAF out of range" and is very common. I couldn't get rid of it until I made a new intake to correct the MAF sensor readings. Your P0101 probably has to do with the funky design Ancla uses for the MAS. You can fix it with a new MAS tube for about $100. 3" AL straight tube, K&N MAS flange and labor to weld the flange on.
Are you sure you're getting a P0192? That's for low voltage on the fuel pressure sensor.
Ravisxb 09-21-2010, 10:51 AM I meant p0172 sorry
ScionFred 09-21-2010, 03:58 PM I meant p0172 sorry
Bank 1 rich, that's common. Unless your injectors are bigger than 440cc or the MAS tube keeps causing this, the P0172 should stop coming back after the ECU has enough time to adapt to the new fuel trims. That's how it went for me anyway.
You should try this 3" MAS tube without any insert:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SPE-9405/?rtype=10
This would be a very cheap way to see if that funky Ancla MAS tube is the CEL culprit (I think it is). I haven't had a CEL in over 2 weeks now since I put a CEL pipe on my 2nd O2 to get rid of the P0420. Like I said before, I had a recurring P0101 that wouldn't go away with my old intake/MAS tube but it hasn't set even once with the new 3" intake/MAS tube. The MAS needs to be positioned as close to oem as possible, not sticking out of the pipe 1".
Ravisxb 09-22-2010, 12:00 AM therefore what you are saying is that i can get rid of both my lights.
ScionFred 09-22-2010, 12:14 AM therefore what you are saying is that i can get rid of both my lights.
I can't promise anything but IMO there is a very good chance that this $32 MAF tube will get rid of both your codes. I'm running 440cc and a straight 3" MAF tube and CEL-free. It should work for you too.
Also check your clamps on that intake coupler. It looks crooked in the pics and you do not want a leak there.
Ravisxb 09-22-2010, 01:10 AM so would you be able to pass emissions with your car?
ScionFred 09-22-2010, 01:39 AM I already did. The test varies from state to state but I went in there with a super loud 3" exhaust and the guy simply plugged into the OBD2 port, read that there had been no codes for weeks and passed it. I'm not sure how long you have to run code-free in MD but I do know that you can't just reset the codes the day of your test because they won't pass you. My guess is that Georgia isn't any stricter than MD.
Ravisxb 09-22-2010, 03:41 AM All they do here is run obd2 and check the fuel cap
Ravisxb 09-22-2010, 03:41 AM Btw I had the same exhaust and got rid of it asap
ScionFred 09-22-2010, 04:32 AM All they do here is run obd2 and check the fuel cap
If you can go a week without a CEL, you should pass as easy as I did. I still have the 3" CXR s-pipe but the rest is custom 2.5" back to a modified TRD axle-back. I love the sound so much I rarely listen to music any more.
What exhaust are you running now?
Ravisxb 09-22-2010, 01:59 PM I'm running borla duals
ScionFred 09-23-2010, 03:57 AM I'm running borla duals
Stock s-pipe, scuba and 2" mid-pipe then. That's pretty restrictive for a turbo but mine ran great with the stock exhaust. We have to limit our hp anyway to save our trannies.
Did you order that Spectre MAF tube yet? $35 ain't much to lose if it doesn't work and one helluva bargain fix if it does. I'm 95% sure that it will work for you.
Ravisxb 09-23-2010, 10:59 AM I'm gonna go buy it from summit this weekend I've got one by my house but how long do u think it will take to adjust to see one of the codes go away
ScionFred 09-23-2010, 05:02 PM I'm gonna go buy it from summit this weekend I've got one by my house but how long do u think it will take to adjust to see one of the codes go away
You should disconnect the battery to reset the ECU when you swap MAS tubes. On the first start let it idle for 5 mins and then try to cruise at 45mph for 10 miles and then 65mph for 10 miles. This will help the ECU establish good fuel trims. If you get any codes, log them and reset them with a scantool and do not disconnect the batt. If you continue to get codes after a few days, it didn't work.
Also be sure to double-check all connections and clamps before testing this. You wouldn't want a small vacuum leak screwing up the results.
r2d2michael 02-22-2011, 02:56 AM so hows the tranny holding up?
ScionFred 02-22-2011, 05:51 AM so hows the tranny holding up?
Over 20k miles @5-7psi, no problems so far, none expected. ATF looks and smells like new.
r2d2michael 02-22-2011, 05:57 AM thats good! do you ever go to the track?
ScionFred 02-22-2011, 06:19 AM thats good! do you ever go to the track?
Not yet but I plan to go this year. I'll probably go to 75-80 and Capitol.
r2d2michael 05-05-2011, 10:19 PM Any updates on your lights and tranny ?
ScionFred 05-06-2011, 05:16 AM Still no CELs and zero tranny issues. It drives like it came from the factory this way.
