Default XM radio is so rad

ok, i had xm radio in my pervious car, i had a universal pioneer xm radio (the one with the little external screen)...i bought the ip bus cord so it would plug into my pioneer premier cd player. it was awesome, one problem i always had with it was that my antenna, which was a terk glassmount antenna with an 8" foldable mast, would trap water between the glass, so i wouldn't get a single after it rained or i washed my car, at least until the water dried up. i tried to fix the problem with RTV silicone around the seal, but wateer still got in somehow

anyways, i loved xm radio. i was excited to see that my tC had xm radio capabilties. turns out that my unit won't work with the tC stock unit. so, instead of taking out the stock unit, installing my other cd player and remounting the crappy antenna, i opted to just buy a whole new setup.

i got a delphi skyfi2. its awesome. ok, it's all in one package, meaning that you don't have install an fm modulator (it's built in). although, eventually i will get the jogjam aux in adapter for it. ok, get this, it saves the last 30 mins of music. you just press the back button a few times to repeat the song you just heard. it's almost like a tivo, but it doesn't clear the memory when you change channels, only when you turn off the unit or the buffer is full and it starts overwritting the earliest recorded songs.
i know that theres a newer xm radio thats pocket sized and holds alot more, but i can't afford it.
the best part is that the antenna is about the size of an oreo, if an oreo was square. it's so tiny and it had a magnet in it so you can stick it to any metal. i didn't want anyone to know that i had xm radio and i don't like the look of an extra antenna like my old one, so i put it in a really ingenious place. i put the antenna on the piece of metal that is towards the back of the car, up in the moonroof. the moonroof shade closes perfectly too. it's actually really hard to find unless you are looking for it. the signal is perfect too. i ran the wire down the passenger side and under the passenger seat, it comes out of the hole that the passanger wieght detector comes through. while i was installing it, i was impressed with the tC's interior, like the edge molding along the doors, i would expect it to just be rubber molding. but this stuff was nice, it was like velvet. if you get some time, really check out the molding, its nice. i guess i'm wierd about details like that

anyways, i swapped my equiptment with xm radio over the phone and it was working in about 5 minutes. now, i'm going to buy this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=5744408388
i'm just hoping that it will be solid enough that it won't shake the reciever around

seriously, if you want xm radio for your car, and you don't want to pay a bunch for it from the dealer, get a skyfi 2, it was like $130 on ebay and it came with all the crap.

(sorry to advertise about it, but i just love this thing, it rocks)

Are you happy with the unit working through the FM modulator? I had a cd deck in my previous car that worked through a modulator. Once I installed it my AM reception went south big time! I had to wire to power line to it through a switch so it would kill power to the modulator when I was tubed to AM.
I've been looking at the Audiovox and the XM Commander and really like the small display size of the Commander. A friend has one and puts th antenna on the top dash.

I bought the roady 2....EVERYONE!!! Please look for promo codes before you activate your XM. I found a JCPenny back to school code for free activation and a 1 year free subscription.....NO Strings attached....I didn't even have to give them a credit card! They said they would call me next year to see if I wanted to keep XM. Saved me like $130. Love the XM! I think the majority of the units have promo codes. Just go into an XM forum. I found 3 different codes for my model.
