How should I go about cleaning all the road salt from my factory floormats and carpet. It's all caked on there and I'm guessing if I just soak it the salt will just spread around.

:rofl: dude just use soap and water ... and a rag . and scrub away ... get a dry rag and pick up the excess water ... and taddaaaa .... :clap:

yeah soap and water.. it'll take ya some time.. and just to let you know you can remove that carpeting from the floor mat in the front.. save ya some time next time..

be careful guys after only one day trip to and from tahoe my axles started to rust, only surface rust but damn , oh and my front stock sway bar too. , and the non painted parts of the steering knuckle and the tie rod. lame

in michigan.. after after snowfall (lots of salt on the road).. i always take it to the car wash and wash off the underbody so that salt can't start it's lame magic.. looks crazy when it's 20-something degrees, but i've been good keeping the rust away on all the cars i've owned..

Could the mats be run though a washer? My mats are looking very salty here in Michigan. My Camo Xb looks like a rolling salt block after a heavy storm. I've spent more in car washes in the last month than the last 2 yrs with my old truck.

i don't know if i would run the mats through the washer, i've tried that before, it wasn't pretty... try just soaking them in water for a 1/2 hour.. then washing them off.. and hang drying them.. that would do the trick i think

yeah ihad to wash them with soap and water and leave em hanging in the garage..... i (after the second snow fall) bought some ones that are rubber and took out the carpet ones...... one of the detailing shops around here takes them out and uses a soapy brush and uses the high pressure hose on them.... give it a try next time you are at a quarter wash...

hey did you know you can remove the carpeting from the tC's floormats? and then they become a rubber mat?

that's a good idea to leave them as a rubber mat. I'm deffanatly going to have to let them soak. there is a crust about 1/4" think of salt. it won't just scrub off with a little soap and water. I may need a chisel to get it off.

yeah probably have to get the mat soapy and let it set for awhile to break up all that salt.. i noticed there wasn't any directions I could find for the floor mats, so i just started to pull and figured out there were tabs holding in the carpet.. finally got it free and the tabs installed again.. but i think a two-way mat is a great idea...

It's carpet. Use carpet cleaning products on them.

Umm move to california where there's no such thing as road salt on normal roads and if there is road salt on a raod its just known as the ____ that makes u understeer into gaurdrails. :P

Close, get a broom hang up your mats and beat on them and brush them off. That will get most the surface salt off. The rest do with soaking and washing with soap an water. Next year get rubber mats for winter.

anyou guys should get rubber mats... i picked up a nice set at pep boys for 20$.... since them my carpets have been spotless...
