View Full Version : camoflouged Camo xB OakToddler 02-03-2005, 12:21 AM  chadfo 02-03-2005, 01:16 AM No, but I did think about it quite a while ago. I think it would look good but it would have to be done right or it will look tacky. iNFEktEd 02-03-2005, 01:53 AM i agree... it has to be done right or else will look pretty nasty..... i also think a polar white with the white city camo will like sick! Lonely_Raven 02-03-2005, 02:29 AM Oh damn a city camo would look sweet! I think if you really want to do real camo, have a good designer do it on paper first so you *know* how it will look. Once on paper, a paint shop or hell, even a vinyl shop should be able to replicate *exactly* what you have drawn out! Cool idea! RageStevens 02-03-2005, 04:50 AM If done tastefully why the hell not. But I think it would be a real fine line if done. TheScionicMan 02-03-2005, 05:35 AM I just got the Mossy Oak Brand Camo seat covers. I've also got a standard pattern camo on my hatch cover, it's a thin netting, so the lights will shine thru. Subtle. I'm seriously thinking about doing something in the door panels too... It is like the vinyl wrap that is used for advertising. If you get tired of it, you can take it off... If you get tired of it, you can take it off... I was thinking about this too. There's a Honda Element (I know, I know  ) that's been in the show scene in Southern California that's decked out in an urban camo pattern.....all done in shrink wrap. Looks pretty tight. The only Element I've ever liked (that and the one with the surf motif....oarnge and woody. Neither one has that cheap plastic paneling) Also, when Monster took our xB they shrink wrapped it in kind of a camopattern, but then put monster graphics on top of it. I'll see if I can find pics. OakToddler 02-03-2005, 01:51 PM  DibujoB 02-03-2005, 01:54 PM Ok, here's some pics. Our car with the cammo/monster graphics. It used to be a white car....click on my profile and you can see the old graphics (the pic with me and courtney day). YES, it's the same white car underneath the vinyl for those who don't know what shrink wrapping is. http://www.monsterenergy.com/images/news/2004/amg/scion.jpg It was pretty tight, they shrink wrapped an RV and the Trailer to match too....it's an interesting cammo pattern...darker than regular urban. I like it. http://www.monsterenergy.com/images/news/2004/amg/SteveBruhn.jpg And here's that Element. I don't know why I remembered it being cammo patterned, but oh well. Still looks pretty cool, and for those who don't understand shrink wrap now they can get a good idea of what it looks like: http://autoimportcraze.com/images/classics03/cl206.jpg OakToddler 02-03-2005, 01:57 PM  fredalan 02-03-2005, 03:54 PM What does it usually cost (ballpark figures) to get a xB wrapped? TheScionicMan 02-03-2005, 05:02 PM Hey Scionicman, I have those covers too and the mossy oak steering wheel cover. Do your covers fit OK? Mine seem like they have to stretch out a bit. It's very cold here They are a little tight right now but already settling in, at least on the driver's side. the passenger side is still kinda hammock-like. Much more comfortable than my old seatcovers tho, and the pattern has just enough light colors in it to catch the light without looking light colored. Whew, that was a mouthful... Does the steering wheel cover match the pattern of the seatcovers? i couldn't tell from the pics on their website. And does it fit our big steering wheels OK? Scionicman Can I see a pic of your hatch? Sorry, site rules say to keep things family friendly... Oh wait... nevermind... I don't have any pics of the recent version (version 4, I believe). I'll try to get some, maybe this weekend at Import Motion. I cut a piece of plexiglas to replace the hatch trim cover. It began with 4 LED light bars behind it. It currently has two CCFL tubes and the plexi is kinda smoked/fogged so you can't see the lights and the camo webbing is on the front of the plexi and hides the plastic-ness of it but the light still shines thru. Still not a finished project, but it's moving forward. vanhate 02-03-2005, 05:12 PM I recovered the rear hatch panel with camo a while back. Thinking of doing the fabric inserts in the doors as well. http://www.toddandnicole.net/photogallery/DSC01894.JPG OakToddler 02-03-2005, 05:14 PM  OakToddler 02-03-2005, 05:16 PM  OakToddler 02-03-2005, 05:19 PM  DibujoB 02-03-2005, 05:42 PM What does it usually cost (ballpark figures) to get a xB wrapped? Not sure, to be honest. Monster took the bill on that one. :ponder: I do know someone who had their H2 Hummer wrapped and it set him back like $3000, so less than that I'm sure. OakToddler 02-03-2005, 06:04 PM  Fujiz_xb 02-03-2005, 06:23 PM i like the monster xb..yay. vanhate 02-03-2005, 06:41 PM van hate- did the hatch panel pop off easy? Really nice! It popped off very easily. I broke a couple of the fasteners though. They're super cheap to replace through the dealership. Easiest mod I've ever done. Just pick out the fabric and use spray adhesive. I also put a layer of interfacing under to give it a slightly cushioned look. It's all available at any fabric/craft store, just make sure you bring your gf/wife with so you don't get weird looks. :) XION 02-03-2005, 06:55 PM This is the first time i have actually considered doing anything visual to my cammy xb. That monster cam rocks it. I am thinking a little too much about all of this. Hmmmmmmmmmm... TheScionicMan 02-03-2005, 07:09 PM van hate- did the hatch panel pop off easy? Really nice! Slide it under the fastener head and pop them right out... Much cheaper than the trim fastener tool and works the same.
