Gen 2 Stock Airbox Question?
Hey guys i just got my k&n panel filter yesterday and when i put it in i noticed there is like another filter in the lid of the stock airbox? does anyone know what this is and how to remove it seems like it would just defeat the purpose of the k&n. i tried prying it out but it wouldn't budge do you have to break it to get it out? and if you take it out will it hurt anything? (ie check engine lights, ect.) thanks in advance!

It's there for emissions reasons, I took mine out about a month after purchasing the xB2. You have to put some muscle into it put it will eventually come off. Stick with a paper or dry-flow filter (like AEM), K&N filters are junk.

Just seemed like a restriction to me so I took it out. It won't throw a code or anything if it's missing so it's not a big deal IMO.

Would removing that filter and installing just a AEM dry flow panel be a good investment. The AEM intake is quite costly for a small amount of HP.
I wonder if you gain any HP by dumping the 2nd filter.
