Inexpensive mod: $8 trunk liner.
I've had my xB for a month now and I got tired of how the trunk looked. After checking al the options (and finding an empty wallet) I just decided to make a "custom" carpet for the back. You be the judge...

The whole process took me about an hour and $8 for the materials. What do you think???

That looks really good. Is the lining blue or did the camera make it turn out that way?
I don't have the mad skills to construct something like that, but the only thing that turns me off about it is that it doesn't have a Scion logo on it (oh no! The car-fashion police might arrest me after the grammar police gets you!!). Unlike others, I prefer to have my badges all over my car. Maybe one day I'll de-badge the box. But for now, I love having Scion logos all over the place.
Good job. Looks really clean and simple. Love it.

It has no support at this moment. Next mod is to make something similar to a "cap" for those storage bins. I'll try some different materials and let you know how it came out.

lining is blue. The guy who did the lining for me charge me $0 and took 10 minutes but said he only had blue color to spare...which I didnt mind a bit since I am doing a blue theme inside the car (future lights and other mods I'm doing)

I'm by no means an expert, tbh. I will be posting a step-by-step on this real easy job OR I can make one for you if you don't mind spending some cash (guaranteed it won't cost $100 lol)

I know exactly what you mean, bud. I've been looking into stitching one, but I am on the fence with this one...I photoshopped some images for all of you to see, tell me what you think:

Thinking to add a "scion" lettering right in the middle OR...

Maybe do something to either side (I think I'm going for the bottom-right side stitching)
This was on the original plans, but I was trying to keep the mod as inexpensive as possible. I'll probably talk to the guy who helped me and ask him how much would he charge me for adding the lettering.
Btw, making one of these isn't difficult by all means. All you got to do is 3 easy steps:
1. make a template:

I used old newspaper (since its provided by my jobsite and I have to spend nothing on it) Just contour the sides and tape each piece to the other one.
2. Place the "mold" on top of a 8x10 rug piece (which I got from Wallmart for $
and cut to specification
3. Have someone who is a proffesional (not me!!!) and tell em to stitch the sides so it won't flake
Also...some of you guys tell me it could of been made fit better BUt I respectfully disagree. Like I said I'm no expert @ doing custom work but the rug came out exactly like I wanted it to. I got some overlay by the door (if that's what you guys are refering to) just because I don't want to hit the hump when I load the trunk. Other than that the fitment was perfect for me.
Hope this helped and anyone who wanted to do something to their trunks but didn't want to spend $79.99 on a trunk rug WHICH doesn't hide the side pockets (I'm talking to you, Toyota dealer:

I don't like the look of the Scion logo in the bottom right. I don't know what it is. It's cool-and-all because it's off-center, but it doesn't look right to me for some reason. IDK.
Great job, though. Maybe you should mass-produce these? Sell them for $35 or something like that since they're custom, and I'm sure people would love to buy these as another endearing option for carpeting.
EDIT:
How is the quality on that carpeting you put it in there? Will it give the OEM carpeting a run for it's money?!

I am going through materials to see what can be used with better quality, even something that matches OEM.
Thanks for the comment!
And yeah, I been thinking about this since I started the project.
Doing a "cheapo" model (like mines for something like $15-20 range) and a "OEM ripoff-type" has been running in my mind. Let me do the second one and get back to you all.

It's another option to the cargo liner which is polyurethane, I think? But that cover extends all the way to the back of the rear seats when folded down and even out to cover and protect the bumper.
now if u make something like that I'm in. the back of my seats are all fyucked up due to me trying to clean them early on. and its just bad. so that i woudl be in on.
