View Full Version : The Be All End All Tanabe df210 Springs Thread!(pics too)
wyldkard 02-04-2005, 09:02 PM There are more threads on here about df210's than there are users. :tap: Can someone please make this a sticky so that it's easily found and others can add their comments and advice on the df210's.
Tanabe df210 Springs
Price: If you're paying more than $160, you're paying too much.
ptuning.com offers a 5% Scion Life Discount making them $161.95, no tax or shipping. Other places have them cheaper. $145-155 is a great price.
Pros: The drop is sick, it's about as low as you can go on springs alone, easy install.
Cons: A little bouncy compared to Goldlines, be careful when driving in and out of steep driveways and what-not, some bodykits may require less of a drop for driveability.
Install Notes: I'll leave that to someone else, b/c I "assisted" in the install of mine by a friend on a hydraulic lift and it only took about 20 minutes...so I'll leave the TRUE install notes to someone else.

FAQ Answers:
Yes I drag the front lip A LOT, but my town's roads aren't the greatest.
The ride is good, but could be better, but could also be worse.
It's 2.2" drop in the front and 2.0" in the rear.
The rims are 17".
Everyone, please feel free to add on as necessary.

hifiguy 02-05-2005, 05:46 AM When you say a little more bouncy than goldlines, do you mean smooth bouncy like a car with no shocks, or harsh bouncy, like stiff? Did you have goldlines before for comparison?

Yeah it has gotten a little out of hand. I know I am guilty of at least 2 threads but after doing a search I didn't get the answers needed. But SL peeps are actually starting to go at each others thoats on these DF210 threads. Enough is enough !
So to second this being a sticky & to add my 2 cents. I used this thread for the step by step instructions to a self install. It works great did mine with no problems. Use it, Print it, Keep it handy to help someone else out & no the springs will not fly out & hit or kill you !
http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20769
Also If anyone needs help feel free to get a hold of me as I installed them myself & would be glad to answer any question or help you out with the install.
Wyldkard - Nicely done, good info, & a great idea  IMO
wyldkard 02-05-2005, 03:53 PM Bouncy - Smooth bouncy, not harsh bouncy. Going down the highway and you hit a little dip, you'll feel it a little more than stock or Goldlines. I'm not comparing this to having Goldlines on my car, I'm comparing it to riding in Scions on Goldlines.

squarepants 02-05-2005, 07:34 PM i think the best springs for the xb is the goldlines, the ride is better than the stock springs and the drop looks pretty good as well, for the price you can't go wrong with goldlines and it also comes with a lifetime warranty......good looks, not too low so that your bumper kiss the pavement and a great price what more can you ask for.....
wyldkard 02-05-2005, 10:59 PM ....what more can you ask for.....
For this to be a discussion about df210's and not Goldlines
This is for those who own df210's to share information for those considering df210's. Not that your input isn't appreciated, but it's off-topic. And by the way I got mine for way less than Goldlines, but it was before ptuning.com raised it's prices.

Blang Blang!
Am I the only one sitting on the bump stops in the front? I mean I may have 1/2 inch of play... but only about 1/2" with the bump stops that Tanabe supplies...
I finally ripped a bump stop in half the other day, so I need to remove the strut and put in a new one.
I've gone about 24,000 miles on my stock struts, with much racing and having been airborne many a time... still haven't blown them out.
ConjunctionJunction 04-04-2005, 11:53 PM There's a Tanabe DF210 army out there =P
For the guys who've had their DF210's for while, how are the springs holding up? No sag? Supposedly Tanabe are built to never sag.
I really dig Tanabe's suspensions, as i've ridden in a few of the them. I'm considering holding out on getting some springs for my tC since DF is coming out for it.
Would you say it's worth the wait?
Also, it looks like they changed colors on the springs--
http://www.tanabe-usa.com/springs/df210.asp
I personally thought the pink was kind of cool, but I can dig white
Prototype_xB 04-06-2005, 01:38 AM Do any camber corrections need to be made with the DF210's??
Thanx
No camber adjustments or sag to my knowlage :D
It could be a little less bouncy in the rear for my taste but thats the price you pay to be that low ! I love my setup
Hope that helps

Vince007 04-08-2005, 09:20 PM Just got mine installed on my Xa today......it doesn't look right. The back seems lower than the front. Also should I wait for the springs to fully settle before I go get an alignment on it?
Just guessing it probably would't hury to wait. I still havent got mine alighned & I have been running mine since I think Feb. or something. Still straight as an arrow & no strange tire wear.
Post a pic of the DF's on ur xA, it will be the first pic on this thread. Might help some other owners out + I would love to see it !
Vince007 04-09-2005, 06:42 PM I will, the moment I get the chance to.

Prototype_xB 05-06-2005, 03:49 PM Hey tanabeusa, i didn't cut the strut bump stops in the front, will that present a problem?
Tanabe_USA 05-09-2005, 09:18 PM Hello Prototype_xB
It should not present a problem as long as the roads that you drive are not in poor condition, where large bumps or potholes can cause the suspension to prematurely hit the uncut factory bump stops. While not dangerous, it may cause unecessary discomfort while driving.
Cutting the bump stops is recommended. Cutting them to a proper length will maintain the ability for the bump stop to prevent dampeners from bottoming out, and allow greater travel for the lowered suspension to maintain the best ride quality.
Bump stops are a safety measure on the suspension to prevent the shocks from completely bottoming out. Very deep potholes and large bumps, if taken without caution could potentially cause this.

killerxromances 06-01-2005, 03:32 AM Handle great for springs, and the drop is impressive for springs. I've taken a few semi-long trips, and its not that bad traveling. Nothing un-expected with a lowered car.

Prototype_xB 06-08-2005, 06:52 AM did any of you use the black plastic coils that your supposed to wrap around the bottom few coils of the rear springs for noise reduction? just wondering cause i didn't, haven't noticed any wierd noise when i tested out the drive today
I used a lil' of it on the bottom coil for the front strut springs against the strut to prevent wear and eventual rust on the bottom coil and left the rear alone, then i drove a few days and noticed the folding coils on the rear springs constantly "CLANKING" back together so i went back and installed the damper material and have yet to hear the clanking again.
Prototype_xB 06-08-2005, 06:54 AM did any of you guys get those g-tech bump stops with your kits? or did you all just cut the stock ones?
nope, nor did i cut the stock ones
hotbox05 06-08-2005, 09:53 AM did any of you guys get those g-tech bump stops with your kits? or did you all just cut the stock ones?
nope, nor did i cut the stock ones :doh:they should have came with the black plastic looking bumpstops . if not go back and cut your bumpstops unless you like riding on the bumbstops (aka bumpy bouncy ride all over)
aireck 06-08-2005, 10:04 AM i had the ones the Tanabes come with and they ripped in half down the side after a few months... i put on my stock bumpstops without cutting them and it works fine .. but i wonder if Tanabe sells them or if they can offer a replacement when this happens?
eXciteBox 06-10-2005, 06:36 PM woooooo i got mine in the mail yesterday from ptuning.com. anybody have a pic of how they put the wrap on the springs?
rebelMan 06-13-2005, 07:02 PM hmmm maybe i don't hear any of this "clanking" because your xB's weigh more then my echo, i'll have to investigate further.
Tanabe_USA 06-15-2005, 12:48 AM aireck --
luckily, we're recently here on scionlife now to see your post! That should never happen under normal driving conditions. Did someone install your springs for you, or did you hit a huge pothole?
We may be able to get replacement bumpstops. Nonetheless, if anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact us! info@tanabe-usa.com
Thanks xB owners for your tremendous support! We're having a hard time keeping those DF210's in stock!

eXciteBox 06-20-2005, 05:10 PM with the help of my friend kevin (blue05xb) i installed my df210's and it was a breeze. i didnt get any bumpstops so i just cut my stock ones. i also pretty much used up the wrap to make sure the springs didnt creak or make any other noises.

teamkasnomas 06-23-2005, 10:55 PM hey, anybody know if the df210s specced for the xA will fit on the xB? i am guessing they will, but the tanabe site gives a different spring and lowering rate for the xA (tdf080) vs. the xB (tdf081)...
http://www.tanabe-usa.com/springs/spring_applications.asp?id=1
eXciteBox 06-24-2005, 01:02 AM maybe the xB and xB dont weigh the same and thats why the height/ spring #
i could be wrong though :(

dustin, i think you're probably right. i can't imagine that they make entirely different springs for the xA and xB. but i have a limited imagination. anybody know for sure if these are swappable?
Tanabe_USA 07-06-2005, 12:34 AM For anyone thinking of using an xA spring on an xB or vitz springs on their xB, and vice versa... we say "DONT DO IT!" Each of those cars have a specific spring and part number. We spent a lot of time developing springs specificially for each vehicle so that each vehicle application looks and rides the very best.
While the springs could possibly be cross compatible, the spring rates are very different, which can result in very poor handling, comfort, or lowering. It can be even dangerous.
http://www.tanabe-usa.com/images/photos/tanabelogo.gif
PrincessScion 07-06-2005, 04:40 PM We just put the DF210's on the xB... they look awesome. We took it in to check the alignment and it's off... going to a need a cam kit in the front and possibly a toe kit in the back.
Any idea on where a person can get these? The alignment shop is working up a quote, but I'm guessing we may be able to get it cheaper. Any suggestions??
Those of you that posted about your alignment being ok... you may want to have it checked. It drives fine... but obviously it's not exactly perfect.

thanks, tanabe. i ended up calling your office and getting the same info. so, i skipped out on the deal i had on a set of xA springs at the last minute. appreciate the help, and thanks for monitoring this forum!
Iheartdabox 07-19-2005, 06:09 PM just wondering if i can use the tanabes w/ stock shocks and w/ 40 series tires on my 18 inchers
I am running a 35 !!! No probs what so ever !!! Tanabe's, 18's w/ a 40 would be a perfect combo
eXciteBox 08-04-2005, 04:34 AM yeah i ran kevins 18's with his 35 series and df210's and also had no problems haha :P
xB_Shiftin 08-12-2005, 06:50 PM are you supposed to wrap the front and rear springs with that spring wrap stuff the set comes with?
eXciteBox 08-12-2005, 07:00 PM just the rear so they dont creak/vibrate andmake noise
ConjunctionJunction 08-17-2005, 11:39 PM Why is there a picture of 2 old ladies on page 1?! DF210 - comfortable enough that you can drive yo granny around
Petey 08-20-2005, 09:35 PM just put theses in my box this morning and wow. they ride better than the trd's that where in there and they look a hell of alot better. anyone that is thinking about byying a set of these do it.
rebelMan 08-21-2005, 05:16 PM I'm going to be taken my xB rated df210's out of my echo when i trade it in next month for an xB. I was just wondering if installing them is pretty much the same as when i put them on my echo. I had help with my first set of springs (megan racing) and these df210's i put on myself w/o a spring compressor.
I know the rear is the same just undo the bottom nuts on the shocks and pop the stock spring out, put the new ones in (with the coil stuff on them), but in the front, i should take the cowl off to access the top nuts better right? and then the 2 bolts on the bottom of the struts?
I'm just hoping i don't take the struts out and see something unexpected lol. Thanks

uber-xA-RS2 08-24-2005, 03:17 AM How are the xA owners doing with ground clearance?
I'm installing my DF210's on sunday and I can't wait to see the results. :nails:

They ride great... I am actually enjoying the overall ride more on these than on the stockies...Large bumps hit harder though, but this was expected...
I also scrape a bit on some sloped driveways...I believe my final upgrade to larger 17'' wheels may help this a bit...
it is still dropping and I can now tell the front is now balancing out better...
have fun installing them!
cheers,
CoffeeBean...
uber-xA-RS2 08-25-2005, 12:46 AM Thanks.
As a solution to the ground clearance issue, if your scraping in the front you can trim off part of the airdam in front of the wheels. this piece hangs down a good 1.5 inches and I know if I run into a scraping issue, it will be the first item to address.
Prototype_xB 09-05-2005, 03:32 AM Oh for anyone wanting to know about if these springs will affect camber........
I went and had my car alighned yesterday and found that my camber is 0.5 degree too negative.
So yes, these springs DO affect your camber
rebelMan 09-05-2005, 03:44 AM wierd, i thought it would've been more, what about toe & caster (i'm a noob but i know what it all means, don't know if lowering effects all of them)
CoffeeBean 09-07-2005, 01:37 AM Yup, my alignment was a bit out as well...
had to actually pay someone to do that...i wish there were an easier do it yourself way to get aligned....
either way it was and will be worth it to save the tires...
get that alignment done after spring installation!
Prototype_xB 09-08-2005, 11:30 PM wierd, i thought it would've been more, what about toe & caster (i'm a noob but i know what it all means, don't know if lowering effects all of them)
Ur toe may be off after installation. My toe was a few degrees off on both wheels. It'll throw it off a little when you remove the struts. As for caster, no. Removing the struts in no way affect the steering knuckles' KingPin axis. So ur return to center is unaffected.
rebelMan 09-09-2005, 03:12 AM I got another question. I just ordered an 06 and i have my Tanabe df210's from my echo (for xB not xA) and my wheels + tires waiting for the xB to come in (2 weeks w00t!)...
Anyway, should i wait till i break the car in before installing these things? Can i at least put the wheels on? I'm going to be REALLY nervous just jacking up the car to change the wheels, let alone suspension. Are there any drawbacks to puting the springs on before i break it in? I think i'll be too low for my community anyhow, speed bumps at school are friggin soldiers, they'll eat my sideskirts i think :(. I want to save up for bags, but will putting my wheels on be ok?
Would i need to get my alignment checked? Their 15". thx
eXciteBox 09-09-2005, 04:58 PM you can change your wheels anytime, the springs i dont see why you couldnt put them in right away either... if im wrong somebody please correct me. i put springs on within a month or two of getting my car. roughly 400 miles or less on it.
rebelMan 09-09-2005, 06:52 PM sweet! I'm gonna get my wheels balanced first cause i think a few of them might be off.
I'm still not sure about the springs. Gonna roll stock heigh first, maybe measure the speedbumps and see if i'll clear them first. The last thing i want to hear is my brand new box bottoming out especially with under 500 miles on it! >_<;
(bags look better every day, until i think about blown bags lol)
OH another question. How is the ride with the df210's on the stock xB shocks? How much of the bump stops did you all cut off? Is there anyplace i can buy the bumpstops from? My tanabe's didn't come with them? Are there bump stops on the rear shocks?
-thx
Prototype_xB 09-24-2005, 02:16 AM /\/\ You cut the bump stops that are inside the strut assmebly. You cut about 1" of them. They ride pretty well on stock shocks. Definatley worth upgrading to TRD struts and shocks ($290) if you have the $$$

Just put them on yesterday, had them on my echo for like 4 months until i traded it in, so i think they're pretty much settled. Looks a lot more slammed in person though :eyebrow: And yea, the spoiler just kinda grew overnight
Panda07 05-01-2006, 03:49 AM do any of you with 17s and these springs have problems when going over speedbumps? Every day I have to drive over about nine speedbumps so I'm hoping I won't bottem out.

eXciteBox 05-13-2006, 05:46 PM its SUPER easy :). just take a carpet knife or razor blade and cut the bump stop in half. it'll go through it fairly easy so be careful not to cut your fingers...

ive been looking at work's euroline which look like yours but black.... i need to know to knock offs or something not so expensive bc im never going to be able to afford them... but yours look great!
also, did the spring switching today. looks and feels great so far... pics when its not rainey
thanks to this thread and the tutorial
jefferino 05-24-2006, 10:21 PM Sure I probably missed it but is the install that hard? I saw that rear looks quite easy by simply dropping the rear end. The front everyone tells me that it is dangerous and I am going to hit myself in the face with the spring. So question is...is it worth $200 to install them or is it much easier?
eXciteBox 05-25-2006, 01:32 PM just lay the spring/strut assembly on the ground (on a old blanket or something) and take the top nut off with a ratchet. thats what i did and the parts will spring away BUT they shouldnt go more than 3-6 feet. there isnt that much tension there. dont put it near any part of your body but if you be careful it wont hurt you
i have a video of me doing mine, i have to get it from my friend though...
jefferino 05-25-2006, 01:36 PM ^^If you could get me that video that would be awesome! I really don't want to have to spend a bunch of money to get these installed when I do most of my own work myself. Thanks much for the advice!
eXciteBox 05-25-2006, 01:41 PM im working on it as we speak :). there is no way id pay $200 for somebody to put my springs on. its so easy a caveman could do it. (:P)
mattxb 05-25-2006, 02:11 PM I would love to see that video as well. Like others on this site, I could not get the top nut off at all. I just re-assembled until I could further research. I tried both with a load on the strut and with the springs compressed. No go.
Props on hooking up a video.....

Tanabe_USA 05-31-2006, 10:02 PM We would always recommend using spring compressors to install springs, as a spring popping out of it's mount can be *EXTREMELY* dangerous. We've heard of a spring jumping a few dozen feet with all of the energy stored in them.
With that said, excellent pictures!
It's good to see 10K-20K+ reliable miles put on the springs! It just goes to show that adjustable coilovers aren't always necessary to have an enjoyable suspension system. What dampers have you guys been running?
http://www.tanabe-usa.com/images/photos/tanabelogo.gif
eXciteBox 06-01-2006, 11:32 AM most of us are still on our original dampers. some have switched to monroe sensa-tracks in the rear.

no, you cut the bottom inch off of it.
bBonVolks 06-03-2006, 05:05 AM Ill just ask here instead of posting a new thread. I just had Tanabe springs installed on my xB and now the steering wheel is turned slightly to the left. Is this just an alignment issue?

refer to the thread i posted about mine awhile ago
SmokingTires 06-13-2006, 11:33 AM I've blown two upper shock mounts (in the front) gotten an alignments and my suspension is still not fixed yet. I've had them on there for 12k miles, 12k miles in S.F. and I am wondering if my rears are starting to sag?
cz3ch 06-17-2006, 04:43 AM I only cut like literally 15mm off of the bump stoff right around 1/2". I'm thinking I should cut a full inch total off the bump stop... Also I noticed by looking at other pictures, that I put my rear springs in backwards perhaps? The fine pitch side of the rear springs should go at the bottom not at the top correct? I've wrapped the dampening material around the fine pitch end of the rear springs but it looks like I have them in upside down (if you look in the picture really close you'll see what I mean)... Damn.. time to jack the car back up.. it never ends!

tigernut 06-29-2006, 11:13 PM Just lowered mine today with Tanabe DF210s from ptuning.com
Heights (in inches) as measured from ground up to center of fender lip:
Stock Springs: Front (26 1/4) , Rear (26 3/4)
Tanabe DF210: Front (24 1/4) , Rear (24 3/4)
I could not have gone any lower and made it up into my driveway without rubbing.
I think it looks really nice now. Now to get some wheels.

shortofdaybreak 06-30-2006, 01:52 PM Does anyone here have constant scraping issues on driveways and speed bumps?
TerrorCrew 06-30-2006, 03:35 PM i've had issues at my parents house...but their house sits on a hill and their driveway is like at a 45 degree slope. i just take it way sideways and it climbs right up.....but other than that no scrapes.

nashpipe 07-11-2006, 09:53 PM I’ve done some searching and not found an answer to this question. I’ve got a stock 2006 xB that I would like to replace the springs and lower the vehicle. I really like the look that everyone gets with the df210 springs. My concern is how lowering affects the hauling capacity of the vehicle. This last weekend, I had loaded all my music gear into the back and went out of town for a couple of days. The xB did wonderful and it was some heavy gear. It did squat down on the suspension quite a bit. Does anyone know how these springs and the lowered ride height effect load carrying capability? Does it just have less travel before it squats down? I guess what I’m asking is, with the box lowered two inches, will it be two inches lower to the ground loaded with my gear or does it just reach the limit stock fully compressed height quicker?
I hope this makes sense and thanks to all for a very helpful site.
OneTightBox 07-11-2006, 10:45 PM Well, with 5 people in my xB and a full tank of gas, I had no problems??

buildheracakee 07-18-2006, 06:43 PM sweet! i was seriously considering these, but after reading through all 5 pages of the thread its for sure now. im gonna order them when i get home.
ok for the install, is there a set amount you cut the bumpstops? Also, long term DF owners, how are your shocks doing at this point?
eXciteBox 07-18-2006, 06:56 PM cut them in half and you'll be fine. ive had mine on for over 10k miles and the shocks are still fine :).
also, you dont NEED spring compressors but they help. i did my springs without them and it took me and 2 buddies.
i went out and bought some screw type spring compressors from sears and holy crap did they make a world of difference. i did 99% of an xA spring install by myself!. no struggling, no rushing. i also used them when i put my cusco camber plates on and i did them by myelsf too.
zdawg913 07-18-2006, 07:05 PM i just got my df210's today, ordered them last week from ssuperstore.com (scionsport.com) yaaaay haha i cant wait to put these in next week. are all the df210's white? mine are, didnt they used to be a different color? not that it matters or anything

Also what size and offset??
Tire size???
Are you using spacers???

nnnickkk 07-23-2006, 01:38 AM just ordered them, coming monday. cant wait. honestly, how hard is install? also what is needed not tool wise but jackstands or ramps or what? also whats everyones take on the bumpstop issue for these springs? i searched and some cut, some left stock...

Just use a hacksaw. it's pretty easy, seeing as how the bumpstops are rubber.
And the new DF210s for the xB are red. Just put mine on today, and it looks great. Very aggressive stance, and the car feels way more connected to the road. Considerably less body-roll on tight corners, but of course, it's a little more bumpy, but what do you expect?

chris03hd 07-25-2006, 12:56 AM Will these make me too low for my stock 15's? :nails:

chris03hd 07-28-2006, 01:30 AM Just did the rear DF210's in about 25 minutes.. longest part was wraping the plastic crap around the bottom of last 4 coils to, as they say, "prevent chatter.." I like it, its VERY slammed so far. :lalala:
Mine are RED, and were one of the first sets shipped for the Yaris Liftbacks.
Front install tomorrow.
downforcexb 07-28-2006, 02:32 AM I was wondering if you lower an xB on Tanabe DF210's with 16x7 rims. What size tires do I use ? I thought about using a 50 series tires. My question is how much gap is going to be between the top of the tire and the bottom side of the wheel well?? can anyone out there help me out!! THANKS in advance....
hayalex6 07-28-2006, 03:14 AM 205/50's are the size you should use with 16x7's
eXciteBox 07-31-2006, 06:36 PM is anybody else experiencing the coating coming off the springs and rusting like a motherfcuker??? when i installed my cusco camber plates i noticed the coating completely gone and rusted all to hell on both sides. i didnt check the back but i can only assume they are doing the same thing.

Mr_Purple 08-09-2006, 05:13 AM Ordered my DF210's from www.calienteautomotive.com Sunday night at 12:30 am, and they were at my door Tuesday morning! Not only did they ship instantly, but they were only $157 total w/ shipping. Amazing prices w/great service. Can't wait to put them on tomorrow. Now my only thing left is to decide which shock to get. After reading page after page I think the boards are split between the sensatrac 5870's and the 5987's for drops up to 2".

Recently installed on our shop xB.
Wheels are 18x7.5. The overall ride is comfortable given that we still use the factory shocks.
Handling definitely has improved.

Thank you eXciteBox.
If you ever get a chance, test drive the tC.
The power and handling will amaze you.
We have guys at our place of business who drive EVO8, WRX, 350Z and S2000 at track and autox events, and they were totally impressed with the tC.

JBIBxB 08-11-2006, 01:55 AM Ok im not hating on anyones ride im just looking for a lower spring than my S-techs and i dont see these sitting any lower i need a good wheel gap pic of someone on 19"s with these springs
Anyone haul stuff with the xb lowered? I'm talking about ~300 lbs of cargo or so from the local home improv. centers.
Graeme 08-12-2006, 07:55 PM Smooth ride on smooth pavement. Little harsher on lane markers. Obviously, less travel.
Red powdercoat on springs. Cut the bump stops.
Like the look. Now if the wheels would just get here.

I have 18x7 and I've never had a problem with them. I stuffed the hell out of my box when I moved into my new apt. It never rub or anything. My car was slammed, too! 15000 miles and still perfect!
Graeme 08-19-2006, 03:02 AM Installed Tanabe DF210s last Friday. Stock struts and shocks. Drop looks great. Ride is pretty good on smooth pavement. Lucky for me, our streets are in pretty good shape. Box handles well on the freeway.
Only bad thing is short strut travel. Bottomed out a couple of times this week.
Think I'm going to have to go to upgraded struts with stiffer valving on compression. I'm thinking about adjustable Tokicos.
how many miles will these springs last for? before they start getting soft...etc.... or another words, when would we need to replace the shocks or struts once the springs give enough wear?
Sciond 09-13-2006, 01:49 AM I have mine on a long time and never had a change in them at all
localbacon 09-13-2006, 02:40 AM Reading this thread made a believer out of me! I was iffy between the 2" drop and the 1.5". After measuring clearance for my driveway, I found that I will have 1.5" to spare!!! Just order the df120s, hope to have them on by this weekend!! will post pics asap
Venom_Xb 09-14-2006, 05:40 PM I will ask the same question....does anyone have these springs with the TRD struts and shocks? Also...how bad is the bounce in the rear compared to stock?
just ordered me up some df210's springs. i can't wait to get them here and installed.
implayaz9 09-16-2006, 08:32 AM cheapest place to get these?
cheapest place to get these?
i got mine from ptuning.com
if i dont cut the bumpstops will i run into problems with these springs?
everyone with the tanabe springs. did you guys recieve lower bump stops that came with your springs? i did not.
Mr_Purple 09-30-2006, 03:45 AM no bump stops in mine. just cut the stockers an inch.
what colors are everyone's springs? mine were red? are these the most current ones out?
importscout 10-02-2006, 05:08 PM Note that these have not settled yet... I am very happy with these springs.. anyone know how much lower they will be when they settle? It doesn't look like a full 2" drop yet.. I would like it to sit a bit lower...

importscout 10-02-2006, 05:11 PM Oh yeah.. and we didn't cut the bump stops... will this adversely affect how much drop i'll get in the front? Thx
Persocon 10-03-2006, 02:11 AM Like it to be lower?!? LOL Look at your first picture. Your front bumper is on the curb. JUST KIDDING I know I know, I want mine to be lower too.
Remember to watch those parking stones/curbs!
Not cutting the bump stops will not affect how much drop you will get in the front whatsoever.
It will only give you a bumpy ride because you will hit the bump stop more frequently. It's basically a rubber/foam that prevents the shock from bottoming out.
watch out for the curb! :)
the xA looks great lowered!

sandwich 11-29-2006, 01:15 PM i hope people are still watching this thread because i have a question..
i have 19" wheels right now, not on the car.. im not putting them on until i get some springs. my question is.. will i be OK with 215/35/19 tires with the DF210 springs and no other changes? any rubbing issues you guys know of? i looked through this thread but i can't see much because i'm at work. thanks
eXciteBox 11-29-2006, 02:10 PM depends more on teh width and offset of the wheels. i know people have run 19's with little to no rubbing on 2" drop springs.
check the wheel fitment guide thread, there may be more info in that thread than this one.
octagon 12-07-2006, 04:02 PM The front of mine seems a little high, have had the springs on for one day, coulpled with tokico adjustable shocks. 4 finger gap in front, and 3 finger gap in rear. Does this seem correct and will these settle more, especially in the front?

1point6 12-07-2006, 04:55 PM i would measure from the center of the wheel to the bottom of the fender. see how much it is off, because it looks pretty even to me. i think since the rear fender is more round, its throwing it off.
Persocon 12-07-2006, 11:34 PM I think that is pretty much what it will look like. Our xAs are very high up to start with, so unfortunately 2 inches DF210 will not be enough

octagon 12-08-2006, 03:22 AM I hope not, i mean really it is not bad. I am just wondering why the rear is lower than the front. One person commented on the fact that it the rear fenders are wide and loger in length from bottom to top. Im happy but wondering how to make the rear less bouncy considering i have adjustable shocks do i make it more firm or soft. I believe firm?
scion08 12-09-2006, 07:51 PM heres mine. this picture was taken 30 min after the install.

octagon 12-09-2006, 11:03 PM Mine seem to have settled more now in the front, i cant decribe how *bad word* these tokico adjustable shocks are .
javastan 12-12-2006, 09:49 PM That is it, I am getting some DF210's. The drop even makes the stock wheels and hubcaps look o.k.
Hi, Im considering buying it, but I don't want to have problem with the clearance of the wheels. I'm going to be using the stock wheels, and we are usually 3 people on the car. Anyone see any future problem with that?
Thanks!
Persocon 12-16-2006, 04:35 AM Front never rubs lock to lock, but it's with just me in the car. Rear will be uncomfortable for the 3rd person in your car.
HoldFastHope 12-17-2006, 01:01 PM I'm almost 100% committed on getting some tein s techs. But i'm liking the look of these as well. How are these springs for daily driving in an 06 xA? I don't wanna go too low and watch every little thing just to not scrape cuz frankly that takes some of the fun out of driving.
Persocon 12-17-2006, 06:26 PM It's a little stiff for daily driving. You won't scrape too much because the xA's front overhang is pretty short for a front wheel drive.
I scraped less with DF210 on xA than stock springs on 98 Camry because of the shorter front overhang.
If you look at Hondas, especially RSX, their front overhang is like 36 inches long, they are the worse ones.
Measurements: front overhang measured from tire contact to front license plate is about 24 inches. Distance from the 2 plastic deflector pieces under the front bumper to the ground is 4.5 inches, the closest to the ground. For comparison 2001 Accord front overhang is about 35 inches.
Farcus 12-25-2006, 03:23 AM I want to put the df210s on my xb but was wondering if i can run a 225/40/18 without rubbing.I'd go with the 215/35/18 combo but I had those on my bagged s-10 and it was terrible you feel every little bump until i upgraded to the 225/40/18 now my truck rides smooth, also is there anyway to make the back of the xb not so bumpy with the df210s on.Any help would be great thanks.

Super-Stormtrooper07 03-13-2007, 05:18 PM just double checking with everyone(even Tanabe), you do have to install a camber correction kit(just on the front springs) with the DF210's ... correct ??

buisBb 04-24-2007, 02:15 AM what tire size are you running on the 501's?
allenofray 04-25-2007, 08:26 AM Champion Jeep,
that is crazy. that is exactly what my xB would look like if i got my DF210s. same rim, i can't tell if you're xB is BOP or BSP. i need to look deep into this stuff. i'm running stock tires and stock shocks and gold 501s w/ +15 offset. what do you think?
ChampionJeep 04-26-2007, 04:04 AM BuisBb I am running the stock tires.
allenofray its a bsp. I am running the df210s with the echo struts and stock tires. I think its a perfect setup. I am getting a little rubbing in the front but its only on certain conditions and a couple of passengers. The top of the tire is rubbing the plastic in the wheel well. If I were you I would also add echo struts to the car when you install the springs. It will give you an extra 1/2" drop. I love the way the car rides. It is honestly 100 times better than stock. My wife has a xB and she is amazed at how different my car rides compared to hers. If you guys have any questions just pm me.
