Hi all,

Just got my xA yesterday and thought I would pass this on (as simple as it may sound).

Go out and purchase a good plastic/rubber floormat for the driver's side. Every time I've bought a new car I do this right away and it keeps your carpet/floormat looking new forever. You could get a set of all four but I think that looks ugly. Keeping it for the driver only, it will rarely be seen by anyone else and you have the comfort of knowing that excess dirt, mud, slush, and wear-and-tear will be absorbed by the mat (which is easily replaced).

You can get a good set of all 4 for about $20 at Target or just a driver's mat for about $10. Best investment IMO.

I've only had one car where I didn't do this and the carpet was severely worn where my heels would dig into it.

I've got the Loyd's Custom Cut floormatts in mine. They're custom fitted to your car. Here's some pics of mine.

Even the holes are cut out.

Only place I could find them was here: http://www.allscion.com/Lloyd_car_mats_all_weather.html
I think they also make them in clear so you could place them over your factory ones.

or even simpler here, go to Office Depot, buy some supplies you need, unfold the big plastic bag they give you to put on the floor, and off you go. (same thing with 10 gal waste basket liners)

Basically, in rainy/snowy/muddy areas, it saves 1) having to clean the floormat every week 2) having the smell build up overnight from all the accumulated gunk you've tracked in 3) keeps the mold from growing (due to wet floormats left in locked car) 4) easier to clean than the floormats (just pick up and toss - water and all).

I got the big, super soft rubber ones at Sam's club on
Thursday night (I got my box on Wed Night). The Sam's
club ones are only $20 for a set of 4, they have channels
to catch and hold dirt, snow, and mud. And they have slots
that you can use to trim them to fit your car with a pair of
scissors.

The back ones fit perfectly, the front ones I trimmed an
inch off the in side portion to fit the floor better.
