I searched and could only find talks of the iQ and the boxer engine toyota/subaru so I'm posting what I know.

So the other night we had a meet at the dealer. The Scion manager was telling us that the all new tC is coming out in Sept. 2010. He said it would be a 2.5L engine with like 190hp and have a 6speed auto tranny and get better gas mileage. He said he didn't see a pic of it but was told it is a cross between the current tC and the Fuse. I wasn't sure about the info but I did reseach and it sounds possible. Here's what I found...

The Camry has a 2.5L engine with like 189hp now as does a few others in Toyota's line up.

The Camry and some others offer a 6speed auto and the 6speed manny!! So we could finally get our 6speed manny trans!

That's about all I found but this sounds promising. It sounds right since they offer these engine/trans combos in other models.


Anyone have pics? I can only find these below but they are also said to be the toyota/subaru car.

 

Unfortunaltely it won't look anything like that. Car makers need to step up to the plate with styling. Cars are starting to look boring.

There has been virtually nothing on the next gen tC in pictures or actual news. There have been a few rumors from people who "know someone" or something like that... but really only confirming a few things we already know. It'll still be the tC. It'll be based mostly on the Fuse concept. And... it'll be a Scion.

If you can find anything concrete other than that, good luck.

 

im pretty sure scion released news during some show or soemthing that said their discontinuing the tc for 2011 and making a whole new different car aka the toyoburu that will be under subaru nam in the U.S. but will be under toyota name in japan.

My feeling is the new tC will be based on the new (2009+) Avensis platform just like the original tC. It will also have the same 4 cylinder engine and transmission from the Camry just like the original except with a lower final drive. I am also guessing they will unveil the new tC at the Chicago Auto Show just like the original tC. (the show will be in Feb 2010) So I am sure it will be about 180 hp or more and it will have an aggressively geared 6-speed transmission. It will also be a little bigger and be a little heavier. I am also sure they will give it a ton of standard features and probably some new ones the current tC does not have.

I am personally hoping it will not get too much heavier and will not get much more expensive. It will be interesting if the new tC and the new Toyota/Subaru coupe come out at the same time. I am sure 2010 will be a great year for Toyota!

 

After seeing the FT-86, I can't even imagine why anyone would be interested in the next tC. Chances are the tC will become an even more docile "chick car." I'm dumping my tC as soon as the FT-86 is available; it's the natural upgrade to a tC in my mind.

FT-86 =$20k-30k

thats why, and i hope u dont think the ft-86 ill actually look like the concept thats floating around.

 

FT-86 target price is around $20K. $25K max. Most believe it will be $23K which puts in up against a loaded tC in price.

If you have been reading any of the press coming out the Tokyo Motor Show (started last night) the general consensus is the concept sheet metal is production ready and that the FT-HS was the actual concept form. The only big changes will likely be on the interior.

 

I agree that the new tC will be unveiled in FEB '10. On top of the chicago auto show happening, the Toronto Auto Show is happening at the same time. Scion's exhibit needs to generate buzz at the Toronto show to help it's launch in Canada.

The idea that it will be built on the '09 Avensis platform is a solid guess. the tC is Scion's best seller, so I expect this '11 tC refresh to be very conservative while tackling the somewhat outdated front face. I expect more hp, 3-5 more MPG and the interior to remain virtually unchanged. The exterior would be the most notable change....after all the '10 camry and corolla has a more agressive front face than the current gen tC.

as for the tC and FT discussion. They're two different classes. the tC is a FWD, bang for your buck ride with an emphasis on customization and marketing to the late teen/early 20's who don't mind spending paychecks upgrading. The FT-86 is RWD that seems to want to go after the '10 camaro/mustang market. However, those in the Northeast may lean more towards FWD for those nasty winters.

prighello, I agree with your price points. the '11 tC will retail for 18k while the FT86 goes for $23k-24k.

 

So far I've only seen one engine mentioned, 2.0 liter with around 150HP. If they want to go for the pony car market they'll have to offer a turbo model, which would also command a higher price.

 

Very good point. I wouldnt be surprised if they offered a turbo trim. Hyundai supposedly is doing the same thing. They disco'd tiburons to replace with the upcoming tuscani. Seems like everyone wants a piece of the v6 pie.

 

The FT-86 will start in the low 20's, which means fully loaded, it will easily break the $30k mark. Just look at the Genesis, they targeted the car at the low $20k price range, and those loaded are $31k.
