I've had my gunmeal Buddy Clubs for about a month now. While cleaning thwe car and rims, I noticed some chipping of the paint, especially near the lips. They are not big chips and not that noticable, but I took some touch up paint to them.

Does anyone else with painted rims experience this? I guess the streets of LA can spew up some flying rocks sometimes!

I dont have painted rims, but I have thought about it....San Diego roads are catching up to LA roads because are city is broke and they like to fund stupid ____.....

I guess it is inevitable with extended driving on LA roads that chips are going to occur, much like tey do with the front of the car. It just bugged me that three of my four rims had little chips and nick that exposed the steel. After some mixing, matching, and dabbing, they are all touched up awaiting the next chipping!

Mine's factory painted too. I don't have any chipping on mine but I am going to get them powdercoated pretty soon. It will cost around $40 a rim. Not bad at all IMO.

It got me wondering about the quality of the paint on the rims. If the paint is not too thick, or the rocks are big, then I can understand them chipping. But mine have multiple chips all over the lip and several on the blades. These are Buddy Clubs, and I love them, but man. Maybe I've been unlucky around the freeways of LA.

Regarding powdercoating. Do they have to strip the paint first before applying the powder coat? Is powdercoat durable?
