I traded in my 05 PW xB today. I was getting bored of the color and saw a hot looking silver 2000 MR2 Spyder on the lot.

I liked the xB alot but just wanted something diffferent. i will probably buy another xB when they come out with some better colors, a bright blue would be so nice. it just seems they keep all the bright colors to use as release editions. red, yellow, orange

I'll still be around on here, im getting a 6disc scion headunit for my mr2. so i will still have something scion :)

not really,. i had my xB for half a yr. brand new xB's go for 14k brand new mr2's go for about 27k.

thats like saying trading in an 05 cavalier for 00 porsche is a backwards move, the value of a car depends on a lot more than the year it was made

im not saying the car is a uber sport car but, a car stock that does 0-60 in 6.9 or car stock that does 0-60 in 9sec. seems likes the mr2 could go faster with improvements than with a civic improved.

the mr2 is made for better handling and stuff also than some base model civic with a bunch of ricer accesories stuck to it.

im not knocking the tC or anything but it takes 8sec to go 0-60 and some people call it a sports car.

and if 6.9 is really a SLOW car as you put it, then its a good thing i got rid of my UBER SLOW xB, because id never get up to 60 then in that because itss sooooo slooowww.

And I'm not saying that the mr2 is a bad car.. It's perfect for rich teenage girls.. But don't call it a sports car.. It's a roadster 2 seater, which gives you the illusion of it being fast, when actually it isn't... The handling is nothing to write home about either...

As for it 'seeming like the mr2 could go faster with improvements'... Well, sky is the limit... if you are talking engine swaps, forced induction, whatever... Anything can be made to go faster than something else...

Actually, it wasn't too bad since I sold my xB nearly 6 months ago for $16500 with 18k miles on it... I also got $600 or so, don't remember the exact amount for the wheels on ebay.. So I came out pretty far ahead if you are asking for specifics.

i drove my xb for 6months, put 8k on it, and sold it for 13k stock. so for a bit over a grand i drove a brand new vehicle for half a yr. figure id sell it now and when 06's come out or release edition 3 if it ever happens and buy one then again.

until then i have a car thats fun to drive and when its nice out i can put the top down, and i see way less of this car in town than scions

and wheres does spending 1700$ for rims and tires and selling them for 600$ come out as a good transaction? i think you wouldve had better luck playing the lottery

On a parting note, I'd like to add that I don't really give a ____ about trunk space.. but apparently it's a big issue with other mr2 owners.. Listen to what they have to say about it:

Not really. My folks have an MR2 spyder and it looks nothing like a Miata.

Side by side, it strongly resembles a Porsche. I took it out a couple of times to drive and it's a nice ride. And the fact that it will be (or was) discontinued will make it a collectible for the true enthusiasts.

If you've never driven one, I suppose I can see how you might think it looks "girly." But some would say, "so does your scion."

I'm glad you found the MR2 that you like. They're quite nice (as you already know) and pretty quick, too. I loved driving my dad's car when he'd bring it by my house. He let me drive his the first week he had it and told me to "push it" while driving down some back roads. I pushed it and it responded nicely. Now he keeps it garaged because the car was discontinued by Toyota.

My dad's MR2 is a 2000 and it's still respectable. The "rice" edition of the early 1990's was nice, too.
