do they get mad if you bring it in before the recommended 5000 miles? i currently have 600 miles.
also, after that should i get the oil changed every 3000 or 5000?

get mad at you for bringing it in early? I didn't even get questioned. That'd be retarted lol. "NO! We're NOT going to change your oil for free until the recommended oil change mileage!! come back when you hit 3000!! no oil change for you!!!

I'd get it changed at 1000 then 5000 then every 5000 after that unless you drive it hard or live in a really dusty/dirty/harsh enviornment, the whole 3000 mile thing is just marketing for the shops to make more money, heck luxury cars like BMW, mercedes ETC say to get it changed every 10,000 miles.

do it as the manual stats, every 5000 or 7500 miles. it is only myths about needing to take it in at the 1000 mile mark. if all else fails, read the manual

My first was at a little over 600 with a second at 2700, but what the hell I drove it hard when I got her, that and I have unlimited oil changes with my dealer maintenance plan. :D

I did mine at 2500 since it was at the 6 months mark rather then 5000 miles

What kind of oil do you use synthetic or regular?

used regular 5w-30 mobil (same as the toyota brand anyway).. first oil change like 900 miles.. dealer didn't even question me..

Is it true that once you start using synthetic it is bad to switch back to regular?

The only thing that I could find in the maintenance section of the the manual was at 5000 miles for the first oil change. The dealer recommended that I get my first oil change at 3750. I always thought that it was better to get your first oil change before that in the beginning because it will get rid of any metal shavings from the break in period. I was thinking about getting the first oil change at 2500 what do you guys think??

I am going to get mine changed when I hit 1,500ish. If I have a problem with that then I will be shocked. If you want to take care of your engine, do things right and get the initial change. There will be metal shavings that you want to remove due to the new engine breakin.
