if i put on a hi-flow cat... woud i lost that much HP? i mean smog tickets arent cheap, espeically in CA

but there is also a silencer for the muffler so i can stay quiet and unnoticed to cops....


im really stuck on this...

no cat with HP gains but use silencer to go unnoticed and hope not a smog ticket = illegal

your not going to miss the hp that you loose from the cat, you will however miss the money that you will pay if you get ticketed for not having one.

honestly, the silence won't silence it to the point like stock so you would still get noticed! I got pulled over once with a silencer on my muffler on!! for modified exhaust!!

keep the cat! the power gains are minimal and you will only get it up around 4000RPM while almost half of the torque at below 3000rpm will be gone!! not worth it unless you are dragging for quater miles all the time!!

our stock OEM pipes are already 1.75, i would suggest a 2"!! otherwise you won't notice much gains! either way!! TRUSTME talking from experience here!

2.75 tubing is way to big for this engine. 2.5 is almost to big. If you are running a turbo it would be ok. I used to run a straight pipe on my Integra before and after I turboed it and it did make more horsepower in both occasions. You might be able to remove the heat shield from you cat and weld it to the new pipe making it appear you have a cat, or find a burn out old cat from a muffler shop and knock out all the catalyst inside of it Expect a even louder exhaust if you remove the cat though.

yea i think im just gonna order a borla muffler and throw a 3in. straight pipe all the way back.. no cats... im gonna lose my low end but i only need the power up top ....thats where you race anyways soooooo yea now if we could only get a CAI i'd be campin happy ......

2.75 is huge... im runnin 2.25 and thats perfect.. im gettin ready to run a hi flow cat becuase i got the megan cat back soo.. im gonna run a hi flow cat with an s pipe to go along with the headers and intake and exhaust.. i wouldnt run any bigger then 2.25... most jap motors need back pressure

I got 2.5", now that's perfect, and almost none rasp. My piping is right from the header. No cats. Very good.

You need the CAT for CA holmes, just get a Magnaflow hi-flow cat, I'm gonna get one sooner or later.

A silencer won't do jack when you go to get a smog-check. The catalytic-converter is used to cut down emissions, if that's not there, you'll fail your test with more than flying colors.

My pipes are 2.25, that's plenty for my setup.

^^^What he said, as well as a bunch of other people on here. Be smart, get the Hi flo cat, at forget the 3-4hp (Made up #'s) and remember all the money you'll save on the Smog tix and poss 2,500 for messin with your cat.
