Default Engine noise on 2010 xB

I just got my xB a week ago, I've only put about 500 miles on it so far. Today I noticed, for the first time, that the engine is kind of loud while idling. I dont really know how to describe it, but to me it almost sounds like a quiet diesel engine type of noise. Does this sound normal? Are these scion engines kinda noisy at idle? Thanks.

Mines a little noisy, compared to other 4 bangers, but not diesely. I just passed 10k and put amsoil 0w-20 in, which smoothed it out a bit. Was dealer 5w-30 before hand.

Like I said, Im not quite sure how to describe the noise, the diesel example wasnt the best probably.

I havent ever had a 4 banger, but at idle the engine makes more noise than the v-8 in my previous vehicle. It almost sounds like the injectors are just really loud or something.

If I get out and stand in front of mine, it's a bit loud compared to other cars. When my Sonata 2.4L is running, you can barely hear it. My xB is more quiet now, but Im running the 0w-20 syn and upper cylinder lubricant. This engine does click though.

Ok cool, im sure its probably normal then. I didnt even notice it until today and that was only because I walked right in front of it while it was idling.

The 2az-fe is a loud engine, it does get annoying at times lol. Im use to smaller Honda 4 bangers that use a timing belt instead of a chain (which I believe plays a role in the loudness of our engines).

Just a note, what's your idle RPM in and out of gear?

That chattering sound at cold start idle always makes me think it's going to blow up or something...
