Default Anyone try the Unichip yet?

For $500, it looks like its a healthy HP and TQ increase (looking at the Sparks dyno sheets).

Only drawback would be running higher octane gas, but this might be my next perf upgrade.

I just bought one for my TC from a guy here on the forums for $400. Definitely a noticeable power increase, but it's designed to work best if you have several other bolt-ons (ive got I/H/E, NST pulleys, Descendant intake manifold etc). You wont really see the same gains if you are mostly stock so just keep that in mind. With all the stuff ive got id say it prob adds about 15 to 18whp with a decent tune, but ima try to get dynoed in December to confirm this

Their numbers for a CAI and exhaust were pretty good.

Why do you say "dont do it". You can't make a statement like that then not offer up an facts.

There are other threads abou this for the tc and it's a good piggyback but those 15+hp r to the flywheel not the wheels.
I'm sure u can get a better tune for it but tuners for the unichip r limited. We have 3 in the whole state of TX.
Turbonetics used it for their turbo kit. So for boosted cars it's a cheaper piggyback but like I said tuners r hard to come by

Gotcha.

Guess price per HP is not bad, considering a $250 CAI yields about 8 and a axle back yields about 3.

Yea if u plan on going turbo laterthis would be an investment cuz then it would just need a new tune.
Just check their website for tuners it would suck to drive yur car 400miles to find one

Dunno if boost will ever be considered, but they can map for the exhaust and CAI. I spent $600 on them to get 10hp, so what is $450 more to double it .

Lol that's alot. I just spent 900 and got a zpi turbo kit
but honestly save the 400 towards some coils the unichip won't be worth it in my opinion or wait till the other guy dynoes his to see he actual hp he gets to the wheels. Because the dyno unichip has was 15hp to the crank

We know for a fact that the xB dyno sheet on the Unichip site is the crank?

I read a couple, but it was nothing more than speculation.

I sent unichip a detailed email with questions. We'll see how they answer.

To let you guys know there are 2 fuel maps on the UniChip. One is tuned for the higher octane fuel and one is for the lower octane fuel. Jamie has been running his UniChip now for about 2 months and he absolutely loves it. It improved gas mileage, HP and TQ. I took a ride in it and it throws you in your seat with just a CAI & exhaust with that on it. He is running 19 TRD rims with 235 tires which are sticky and he can spin them all day long. Let me know if you guys have any questions and I will be happy to answer!

^i want to start by saying yur job is sweet!
As for the unichip we need a third party dyno that proves the gains. All this I feel stuff just doesn't cut it.
Once a member post up a dyno with the unichip off and on then it will be clear that it's an awsome product.
And no one has done so yet. I'm not bashing the unichip I am sure it works but how well we won't know till the sheets prove it.

I specifically asked Unichip how they came about the numbers for their xB dyno sheet. We will see what they say.

Numbers are at flywheel (verified by Unichip). I asked about TRD CAI and axle back (they onl have cat backs as an option) and he said that the CAI was the important part, the exhaust not so much. For my setup, he said to select TRD CAI/Catback.

U would be better off getting the pulleys those r the cheapest way of getting power. It's 160$ish for the pulleys and that's 10hp to the wheels

Isn't there a chance of harmonic/charging issues with new pullies. I do not know much about them.

I dont think so. I know that the only pulley that affects the harmonic balance on the engine is the crank pulley, but I have heard that our engine has an internal damper? I think Dezod sells a race version of a harmonic damper for our car so you should ask them about it.

There's also a thread on here about NST pulleys https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...ght=nst+pulley

so check that out, it should have good info.

Don't know if that answers your question...

I just read a NST post in the tC forum, and he addressed it. Really not an issue with our 2.4's.
