With winter drawing near, I figured we need to find ways to continue with creativity. While browsing Flickr, I came across a member that had embarked on a photo project for the month of November called "30 Days of Gratitude". In this project the center focus is gratitude and being thankful/appreciative since of course we celebrate Thanksgiving this month.

Now with it being already the 3rd, I'm still contemplating whether or not to make this the first project since I don't have an idea of how many of you guys would be interested in participating. If the interest is there, we can go ahead and get started. If not, my alternate first project idea is "50 Days of 50" where all images must be taken with the 50mm prime, whether its the 1.2, 1.4, or 1.8.

So who wants to participate? 8)

50 days of 50 sounds good once I get the 1.4 since my 1.8 is jacked up.

it's not so much discipline as having many other important things going on in one's life that take precedence over picture taking!

Would you guys like to do 30 days instead of 50? 50 sounds good in the title but that's a long time--almost 2 months lol.

I planned on making a separate thread for each project and everyone just post in there. But we can make a Flickr group in addition so more than just the people who frequent this forum will be able to see them. Maybe call it the "Scion Life Photo Project" or something.

Also, this is not restricted to DSLR cameras. However, try and post quality pictures even if they are from a P&S. The same general "rules" of photography apply, but don't hesitate to be creative.

"50 Days of 50" sounds cool

50 days is such a long time for a project though. I think a shorter time span would be best in order to keep interest.

true but "50" would go into the holidays and new years eve (i think lol) and it would be cool to have some pics from those days. hopefully it snows by then. white Christmases are always nice.

i say we go the whole 50. I'll join in for sure. I need the motivation to shoot again before i end up selling all my gear.

This is after all supposed to be a challenge.

What if we even made a game out of it and everybody keeps posting till they miss a day and then they are out of the challenge. Whoever keeps posting will last longer and win the challenge. kinda like a last man standing game with photography. First day u miss posting a shot u are out and can not post again.

This would kinda make it fun and give people more incentive to post up shots and really CHALLENGE u to be creative and meet the deadline that a photographer would have if he/she was for hire.

If you guys want to do 50 I'm cool with that. I plan on making the thread tonight or tomorrow. I like the idea of "miss a day and you're out" to keep people posting. Will there be a prize?

maybe make a thread just for that. Pick one photographer every month to kinda highlight each month.

That could work. The winner from each project could be featured. And if we make a Flickr group to accompany the projects they could be featured on there as well.

For this project the theme could be "endurance" since the winner will be the last photog standing. If there's more than one we could have a vote for the best photo and the person who took it is the winner.

i would just make the theme the "50 days of 50" cause it's gonna be harder to come up with ideas for the photo to relate to the word ENDURANCE. Just my opinion.

I didn't mean as in the subject of the photos but like the overall goal. For example, in future projects it won't necessarily be a challenge to see who's the last person left. More than likely we'll just have to vote for best photo.

OMFG...im out. Dropped my 50 today and it broke in half. Glass was fine to i tried fixing it. I thought it was fine so i put it back on the body to see if it worked. It got stuck on the camera. Took it to a camera store and I have to pay $85 to get it off. Wont have it till next week. FML. Lens is trashed they said.

yeah..i was really excited that today we were gonna start lol

the lens is stuck on the camera. i didnt wanna force it out so i had them take it out for me w/o hurting or damaging the camera. my camera will be back in a week. sigh....

hey Jon....we can do like you told me on flickr...a challenge but w/o lens restrictions. just an idea, not just because of me but others can join too. i just kinda hate the fact that my nifty fifty broke lol

Well I changed the dates on the 50 project so we'll start next Saturday.

I think we should go ahead on project #2 so everyone who's not able to participate in the 50 project will have something to do as well. Just gotta think of something now lol. Any ideas?

However long it needs to be really. I was thinking of a holiday themed one to run from now until New Years but a shorter one would be good too.

But that would be a fail from the beginning since we all know that equation does not compute lol.

ok I just hope I don't have any more trouble with Scionlife. It's been not loading for me. Not sure if that has been for everybody but it has been for me.

Guess I need to go run and put my 50mm on my 5d and clean everything up.

Hey for the next project we should do something different that I personally have never seen and have a project where u have to shoot at a certain ISO.

Yeah I hope it stays online. I'm not sure what was going on with it.

As far as the ISO project, I'm down. We just have to make sure that it's an ISO everyone's camera can be set to. I know some don't have options lower than 200 or greater than 3200.

Since no one is participating in the 50 project, how about we try something else? Maybe a holiday themed project? No lens restrictions or posting deadlines, the photo just has to be centered around the upcoming holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years).

I'm pondering with the idea of a 365 challenge kinda like Linhbergh and Will Roegge's ArtPants though. It'll take a lot of patience and determination, but I want to try regardless.

That crossed my mind will going to sleep the other night. It would be amazing to look back on.
