At what point should replace the stock struts? For example, the Eibach Pro-kit lowers 1.5/1.6", will this work with the stock struts?

i may be wrong but i think its a good idea to replace the shocks and struts anytime you put in springs that make it lower. the factory ones are designed for the factory springs and have the correct amount of travel to not wreck them. when you put springs in that lower it 1.5" or whatver, its makes the rods in them that much closer to hitting the bottom and going bad.

its also cheaper to put in better struts and shocks at the same time as springs, since you have to take them off to put the springs in. and then if you ever sell car you have a set of factory parts to put back on

I've got tanabe df210's on my box and my stock shocks/struts are all but destroyed, so i'll agree that its a good idea to change em out whenever you have the car dropped :blah:

i agree my stock shocks couldn't handle the lowering .

yeah this is all true but lowerd / shorter shocks are around 200 a corner. not cheap. and they are normally only meant for say a 1.5 inch drop. it's unfortunate. get ahold of ground control . they build shorter shocks for any and all applications.

FYI, we always recommend replacing your O.E. "Damper" anytime a vehicle is lowered. Not only are most O.E. dampers are not up to the task once a vehicle has been lowered, if they fail shortly after you install your lowering springs, you will be faced with double labor and alignment cost!. I have the tanabe df210's and I still used the stock struts and my ride is fine. As long as you avoid major bumps and potholes and be sure not to drive like a maniac you should be okay.

yeah they ride fine for awhile but the sporty nature is lost , and the shocks will blow or wear out quite shortly
