DJ_X_Trodinaire 02-07-2005, 05:39 PM seats looks nice!
mikochu 02-07-2005, 05:51 PM Looks good, Joel! But...what does "Tamago" mean? Also, did you end up using the rear seat bar for the harness?
Tamago 02-07-2005, 06:10 PM Tamago means EGG in japanese :D
and yeah, i'm using the rear seat bar right now.. don't have th $$ for a harness bar yet.
Lonely_Raven 02-07-2005, 06:14 PM I get it! A white xA looks like an Egg! LOL
Nice sports seats! Kinda funny in a 110 HP car with
4 point harness though! LOL
phantomxa 02-07-2005, 06:14 PM do those seats sit lower than the stock seats?
Fujiz_xb 02-07-2005, 06:24 PM i dont break my tamagos for nobody..lol..looking nice there bro..
hotbox05 02-07-2005, 06:33 PM hey what brackets are you using up front? and what are u gonna use for the rear?
Tamago 02-07-2005, 06:35 PM the seats provide about a 65lb weight savings overall.. actually, it's gonna be over 100 lb weight savings once the one in the rear goes in!
and yeah, the seats sit lower than stock.
Awesome setup! :D
Did you custom make the seat brackets or did you buy them online?
Tamago 02-07-2005, 06:39 PM brackets custom made by a shop here in S florida, although i don't recommmend any of you going there.. the guy blew me off from july til about 2 weeks ago, spent a total of about 1HR welding (i did almost all the fab/cutting work) and then charged me $200.. rip off..
but they ARE aluminum brackets, so really really lightweight :):)
Ouch! 200 is a bit steep for two pairs of seat brackets.. I was hoping some company has started making them for our cars :(
Maybe I can hit up a friend of mine who's a welder and fab some steel brackets. He quoted me around 80 bucks to have it done :D
Tamago 02-07-2005, 08:29 PM aluminum > steel.. compare 2 lbs to 10lbs.. :)
Very true~! that's one of the main reasons I'm hesitating on asking him to do it :P
AKgoalie7 02-07-2005, 08:44 PM 5 point harness in a Scion??????
to each his own...
I believe Tamago does do Autoxing with his xA so it's very recommended to go with a 5pt setup!
Tamago 02-07-2005, 08:53 PM that is correct. i'm only using 4 of the 5 points right now tho.. no ball cramping for me :):)..
superjeer 02-07-2005, 09:05 PM 5 point harness in a Scion??????
to each his own...
come on.
seriously.
EVERY car should have 5 point harnesses. They are many times safer than a three point harness and you don't have to be going 120 mph to die in a car crash. Though, a scion can achieve those speeds. 15mph will kill you just the same.
I can imagine this same conversation 30 years ago "a three point harness in your DART?!"
Lonely_Raven 02-07-2005, 09:06 PM I think part of the reason you were charged so much for
the aluminum welding is that it takes a higher end gear to
do aluminum properly.
I like the weight savings though, I'll give you props for that!
BeQuietAndDrive 02-08-2005, 04:57 AM I hope you are getting a rollbar soon.
5 pt harness without a rollbar in the event of a rollover= snapped neck.
econobox 02-08-2005, 05:03 AM I'd rather have a 3pt. In a head on crash, the stretching of the seatbelt will "slowly" decelerate me. 5pts are great for racers, not drivers.
Tamago 02-08-2005, 12:12 PM lol, slowly decelerate you into the steering wheel/airbag, which will in turn snap your neck and burn your face.. :):)
if 3pt was safer, then racing cars would use them :):)
anyway, thanks for the props..
DJ_X_Trodinaire 02-08-2005, 01:14 PM www.letgomytomago.com <---that should be your personal website
Tamago 02-08-2005, 01:28 PM LMFAO
its_ikon 02-08-2005, 07:33 PM looks nice joel. you enjoying this more then the corolla?
Tamago 02-08-2005, 08:22 PM hell yeah i am, sam.. corolla was a dead end project. . the scion still has room to grow. :)
