View Full Version : To TRD Exhaust Owner
SonsIceBox 02-08-2005, 12:39 AM I was wondering if you are satisfied with your exhaust. Do you like the sound of it, and can you describe the sound of the exhaust. I just dont want to get it, and it be a typical ricer exhaust with a loud waaahhhhh sound.
i'm thinkin about getting one, i wanna keep it stock looking and don't want the way too big exhust tip either
sleeper look i'm goin for
davematic 02-08-2005, 01:29 AM i compared my xb with the dealers promo xb that has aem intake ,trd exhaust etc.... the exhaust was not whiny ,matter of fact i barely noticed it . i went with custom exhaust . added a resonator that opened the pipe to 2.5 in and slapped on a ractive race muffler and tip .it sounds awesome deeeeep tone with no loud whining at all . dont forget to buy some headers
I have the TRD. I do like the sound, but it is much louder, adn will annoy you without sound deadener.
It does have a big tip, not sure what size, but it's big. It fills out the cutout nicely.
As for the sleeper comment... don't you have to have a fast car to be a sleeper?

maybe he meant he wanted to be able to sleep in the back of the box.
xoBkcalb 02-08-2005, 04:05 AM i have the trd . it has a nice sound not to loud . but i think i might go with a cat back in a few years . for more power out of my mouse.
i'm workin on the sleeper part and i don't have a box i got the littler sibling :D
iNFEktEd 02-10-2005, 08:46 AM i got the trd exhaust. i cant hear anything. all i hear is my intake. if you want a loud exhaust dont go with this one. i would do i sound clip for you but duno how.
heme11 02-11-2005, 02:21 AM I have the TRD too, its a nice deep sound, its not overly loud. Yet i can get alarms to chirp in parking garages at will. So in short i am super happy with my TRD exhaust, The only things negative i have heard about the TRD exhaust is that the older version would shift and burn the rear lip, but trd has fixed the issue and there is no more fear of that happeneing. The other negative i have read is just from people complaining about the price.
RacerxB 02-16-2005, 02:36 AM Just installed mine and I love it. Not too loud and not ricey. a low rumble out off the back. The TRD engraved in is very sweet. I paid $250 for mine.
hotbox05 02-16-2005, 03:23 AM If you guys want (relatively)quiet, low sounding, good flowing , oem looking go with a 2.0 or 2.25 turbo muffler with a small non chrome tip . Sleeper.
AmericanIST 02-16-2005, 04:29 AM What did they change on the newer version of the trd muffler? What was causing the muffler to shift and burn the bumper?
heme11 02-16-2005, 06:01 AM from what i was told the modified the "hangers" that are welded to the muffler.
Bleach3-0 02-16-2005, 06:06 AM I didn't know that the AEM intakes make sounds...Guess you learn something new everyday.

just about all air intakes make sounds. that is usually due to the removal of the air box and because the filter is exposed, you can hear the engine taking in the air
dachef 05-16-2006, 05:35 AM im in y.o ny let me know where i can get the exhaust
Jhhnn 05-19-2006, 11:37 PM The TRD on my xB fits perfectly, with the 90mm pipe centered nicely in the 140mm bumper cutout.. It's fairly throaty at low revs, with the pitch increasing at high revs and wot. Reminds me of the exhaust note of British sports cars of the 60's. It's not terribly loud, at all, but it does have a little bit of attitude. I put the TRD "street legal" certificate in the glove box before I put the muffler on the car.
The way it's built, it seems to be a baffled type muffler, rather than straight thru packed with fiberglas or similar, so the tone shouldn't change much over time... You'll probably get a deeper tone from a glasspack design, but they generally get a lot louder with age...
More power? well, it sounds like it has more power...
