View Full Version : what does headers do? tCshamgar 02-08-2005, 02:47 AM Well, headers are the pipes that remove the combusted mixture (ideally Water + CO2) and sends it out of the vehicle... I dont claim to know too much but what i do know is that a larger pipe coming out of the motor means better flow and better flow in turn results in increased horsepower and torque (what we want) www.tCtunerz.com has 2 diff. types available, i dont know what i'd pick... i believe they are designated as 'racing' headers but do your research as i do not know how it will affect your warranty or other factors on your tC. Intake, headers, exhaust are 3 bolt on pieces that add up does it matter which end you start with? everyone says start at the back, but the looks of it, everyone is trying to get intakes first. blastedat9 02-08-2005, 09:15 PM its not true that it wont do anything unless u get an exhaust too. the resistance to the flow of air through the engine is the sum of all things resisting its flow (intake, throttle body, exhaust manifold/headers, exhaust pipe, etc) so making just one part more free flowing will still give you a gain in horsepower. not as much as if you changed everything, but it would still help.
