Hey there I am in the process of purchasing an Obsidian wide body kit to add to my mod list. I am going to do all the work while I am here at wyotech and use there facilitie to do it in also. I am in the stage of purchasing body components so that I have it all before I start my custom class in seven months. I was wondering what wheel specs I could run with and with out wheel spacers to be flush. Also could I do it with 17s ? since it would sit lower or would it look wack ? let me know about your opinions anything will help before i go out and purchase wheels. thanks.

17's would look way out of place with such huge fenders. 18's at least but 19'
s would probably be best.

As far as width..I'd say at MINIMUM 10 if not wider..so offset wise you would probably be looking at like +20 and lower..I could be wrong but you definitely would need a pretty aggressive setup to pull that kit off. IMO the obsidian is the only widebody for the tC that I actually somewhat like but you definitely need to have the right setup to pull it off

you are going to need at least a 10" to 11.5"

On tina's wide body she is running like 11" on the front and 13" on the rear

and no 17s

Wheels like that won't be cheap! :(

ok so what bout some 9.5 with wheel spacers ?
id like to keep them 18s and try and stay away from 19s and up.
Imma wait till I get some cash together and try and find some from memoryfab or rbmotoring I just need to find the right specs to pull them off.
I would run wheel spacers if it would help.

DJ08tC
11-16-2009, 04:11 PM
You could run spacers but to get that nice lip that looks good with widebodies a true 11" or higher would be better

rosedaleny806
11-16-2009, 04:11 PM
9.5's will be wayy to small. u need atleast a 2" front and about 4" back spacer to make it look good on a widebody lol

DJ08tC
11-16-2009, 04:14 PM
The blue tCs wheels had to of cost at least 5-6k

rosedaleny806
11-16-2009, 04:21 PM
those ____s are HRE's i say atleast 7k lol

DJ08tC
11-16-2009, 04:25 PM
I looked at vivid, depends what they are but most run like 1400-1600 a wheel depending on the size. lol

rosedaleny806
11-16-2009, 04:30 PM
I would love those exact HRE's lol

1600x4= 6400
wheels=600 (could be way off)

about 7k worth of sexiness. but idk if those were custom made for the car or not

DJ08tC
11-16-2009, 04:39 PM
Im pretty positive they are all custom made, if i won the lottery tomorrow I would defiantly order those as soon as i got the money. lol I think those are part of the 540 series but it is hard to tell.

I am trying to find out the specs on that one dudes wheels that just posted his wide body. The orange one, the size doesnt look too bad

DJ08tC
11-16-2009, 04:48 PM
That blue one is running 19x10.5 front and 19x11 rear

rosedaleny806
11-16-2009, 04:53 PM
yeah i saw that u asked for his specs, they dont look bad and they dont seem like anything ridiculous either. yeah see 9.5 just wont cut it i think.

too bad that blue car was destroyed, such a sick car/color everything. first official tc with a wire tuck

DJ08tC
11-16-2009, 04:59 PM
Yea i think that dude is probably running in the 9.5 to 10 with spacers range. They look alittle too sunk in for me, but look alright.

Rado was running 19x10f and 19x12r HREs on his silver tc

rosedaleny806
11-16-2009, 05:00 PM
rado has a silver tc? lmao

yeah man idk they are lil sucked in but i think that guys widebody stick out ALOT more then the onsidian kit.

thanks a lot bro. I have bought everything for my car for a good price just shopping around I think when I get 1800 saved up ill look harder into wheels as I might be able to pick something up from memoryfab or rbmotoring for around that price range and save some cash.

DJ08tC
11-16-2009, 08:58 PM
no problem, yea you might be able to pick something up there for a good price, then refinish them.

rosedaleny806
11-16-2009, 09:04 PM
and if its the wrong lug pattern hell u can get them redrilled. ive seen a few meisters on there with like 10" lips

DJ08tC
11-16-2009, 09:05 PM
tried to look but it seems like memoryfab is down right now,

now these would be pretty beast, alittle small in the front but decent offset,

DJ08tC
11-16-2009, 11:54 PM
Dont know about RPF1s on a widebody, seems like it would be kind of ugly.

Also don't know about the redrilling, heard it is okay for some rims but not good for others.

Why not put your money elsewhere?

I have not seen 1 well done Widebody tC (Other than Tina's), seems like it is a PITA and if you went for the clean look with some REAL nice wheels, you'll save yourself quite a bit of cash,

or you could do your interior, wheels, and make your car CLEAN *i.e Stephen (Dodaddy)

19x10.5 front
19x11 rear

unsure of offset

do not go with 18's.
youll regret it.
even the 19's look small

scikotictc232
11-17-2009, 03:10 AM
ya im gonna go with 19s after all, Had a talk with an instructor of mine. I will have a nice facility with all of the top name tools and the best instructors teaching me how to do it right. since im gonna take my time with the kit and all im just going to dish out the cash on some clean 19s. i figure if i throw my extra money in a wheel jar after i graduate i could get something dope after a few pay checks.

AcidDrop
11-17-2009, 10:07 AM
here is someones mod list and his wheel size and offset is posted but i would recommend on getting the wheels last once the kit is finished so you can make measurements of what/width size and offset you will want to go with

and here is the thread he made when he got the car

i'd have to disagree with Tina's car being the only well done widebody tC out there because her car has some pros and cons as well as any other widebody tC out there.
-Cynce's was a great car too (until she got rid of it) and who knows where and how the car is/looks like now.
-Franks (purple ait widebody kit w/molded rear windows) looked great too until the new owner destroyed it.
-Jay jay's (tc posted in link in post above) was a great car too until it started to fall apart.
-the new candy orange widebody kit is nice too but he has yet to finish the engine bay/interior/audio so we'll see how that goes if he ever gets around to doing those mods.
- i can keep naming more but some might agree as others will disagree as well and no Tina i'm not bashing on your car or you, it's a great looking tC but not the best well done tC out there because there will never be a BEST well done widebody tC out there that pleases everyone 100% as majority of the people don't seem to like widebody kits as others do.:relief:

scikotictc232

tcs are becoming like hondas everyone wants the cleanest nicest parts and since there are only a few companys that really make quality parts you get a whole bunch of tcs rocking the same components. The wide body will be a test for me, I am taking collision and refinishing in school so I am hoping to take what I lean and apply it here plus I might as well do it here while I have the instructors here to help me out with any problems I might fall into. something bout the obsidian kit done well on our cars that I love. i am planning on retiring the tc and just driving it occasionaly.

scikotictc232
11-17-2009, 08:53 PM
you think i can get away with running 18X11 work VS-XX wheels ? cause all the other tcs I have seen with wide bodys are running 19s and up. I thought that the red tc was on 18s first but I guess not. I wonder if it would look goofy.

AcidDrop

even those might not be flush for a wide body, if they were a 0 offset then it would be better but i dont think those would sit right on a wide body, i could be wrong tho...

yellowxhoodie

spacers yo.
i wish they were 17's or 18's, i wouldve bought them in a second, ive wanted those forever.

i remember of this bad a$$ scion tc this chick had, she was running a widebody and she had racing hart 721 rims running 9.5 width all around. i think she was running spacers on her car but im not sure, it looked flush...it was nice

I would never run spacers on a wide body. Snap axles.

No spacers.

My specs were 19x8.5 all the way around with a 0 offset in the front and -4 in the back.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAA. back from the dead huh cynce

in my humble opinion

if youre really spending all that to do a widebody why the hell would you skimp out on wheels.

they complete the look, that's like stock interior with a widebody.

I am not going to go with a wide body anymore, I am purchasing a lip kit from another member on here since it will be cheaper and I will still be able to drive my car how I want to with no worries.

Im having the worst time with this right now myself..My kit is getting molded on as we speak and i didnt think rims would be my biggest problem. im currently on 19' rims with a 35 offset and a 2.5" lip. i love my rims and dont wanna give them up!! any way i can make these work with the kit?
