Bought it off ebay for about $130 shipped.... since nobody had it, I decided to be a guinue pig!
Harder to install than I thought!! That thing was a _____ to put on!! Had to drop the motor on the left side slightly! Anyway herez the result!!
I do feel a little more push, almost like you just put on an intake, especially around the 2000~4000rpm range! Didn't tell my girl friend who drove the car after the install and she asked me, "What did you do to the car again?" I asked why and she answered, "The car feels more powerful!" ..... so ya so i'm pretty sure its not just in my head!
Now the bad part! If you have a 5 speed u don't have to worry but for autos, you WILL notice slightly more vibration on IDLE at D. Its not too intrusive but, you may feel the difference!

Thanks for writing it up. Don't forget to add some review in the part section :)

Sweet I ordered one, but I only paid $99 shipped to my door. I know the owner of a shop that I use to deal with when I had my Neon and he sells Scion parts now. I'll let everyone know what I think about it when it gets here.

explain to my how/why a stiffer engine mount creates more power?

Its not creating more power, its freeing up more, kind of like flywheels and lightened pullys.
From the factory, the engine mounts are very soft and when you put the power down, the engine will move back and forth, that way vibrations do not go into the cabin. The stiffer engine mount will take the wasted power from the engine moving around and put it down to the wheels.
One of the cons is more vibration in the cabin, but this mod not only helps you put more power down, its also helps out with handling.
My biggest question though is our engines have 3 engine mounts, does this actually replace one of the mounts, or just add a damper to the engine?

youre kinda right , lol. it basically stops the motor from swimming around , letting the poower get to the wheels .
and the dampener is an add on between the block and the passenger side strut tower. it does not replace a motor mount.

i think my clutch is the weak point of MY car right now lol

yeah the pressure plates use too weak of springs thus allowing the clutches to slip. lame design.

If the dampener is an add on to the passenger side strut tower, wil you still be able to have your strut bar on?

Can the damp rate of the damper be adjusted?

Yes, but you'll need a wrench to do it, i'm running mine at the most stiff setting,
been around for a while...

wow, thats a strange design....not sure if i trust it.
I've ordered the TRD Engine Mounts, I should be getting them in about 2 months, I'll post more when they come in.

A lot of P-Car racers swap out their fluid filled rubber engine
mounts for solid aluminum ones for the same effect.
In the old days of big block hot rods, we used a chain bolted
from the top of the engine to the top of the shock tower.
It would hang slack when the engine was at idle, but when
you slammed on the gas you could easilly see the engine
twist and pull itself off the frame. The chain would help
hold it in place (just like this damper does for the Scion).
Now THATS torque!

I'm curious... just how did you "drop the motor slightly" to install this mount? Was that part of the instructions? I've been thinking about this product... How much more vibration do you feel in the cabin? The tC is pretty insulated and padded, so I imagine you could add a lot of vibration and not see a significant change in ride quality.

the only issue i see with this product is.... its trying to stop the motor from rocking or twisting, right at the factory motor mount...
shouldn't this be as far from the motor mount to maximize the effects???

Most movement will be opposite of the mounts, so placing the damper at the top keeps the top end from moving back and forth...

i can see if you bolt this up to the top of the motor block somewhere...
but its bolted to the engime mount...can't do anything when its that close...
if it was attached up higher or farther away from the engine mount itself, it would work...

is that bracket strong enough to take the motor shift???
and if so, how effective is an absorber that can utilize that bracket and still compress???
i would think an item like this should go from the mount to a much much stiffer place to absorb such movement effectively

just looked at the pic again, does it come with it's own mount
it looked at first like it was on that bronze bracket, but upon FÜhrer inspection it is not
and how stiff is that shock???

That metal silver bracket thingy that goes over the strut.. is actually pretty darn strong! As for the stiffness of the dampener.. I couldn't install this thing without dropping the motor alittle.. in order to get that dampener to fit... So it is pretty strong! I couldn't even compress it even alittle bit with bare hands!
As if it works or not.. I would have to say it is worth every penny! You can really tell the difference and I have an auto! Engine is sooooo much more responsive to throttle.

I have the Perrin pulley installed after this dampener... Compare to the gains... ironically this dampner actually gave me a little better gain than the Perrin pulley did...
