View Full Version : MaxBoost's "Sticky Box" no-bologna build and picture thread.
MaxBoost925 11-19-2009, 02:55 AM Here is my build thread for all of my wheel, tire, brake, and suspension modifications on my Super White 2008 xB2 5-speed.
My goal is to build a car with an OEM appearance that has excellent agility that is anything but OEM. In other words, sleeper. But at the same time, use only top quality brand-name parts to maintain the reliability of my xB because it's my daily commuter.
This thread will receive new pictures as I continue modifying the handling characteristics of the car.
Enjoy!

MaxBoost925 11-19-2009, 03:04 AM 11/18/2009.
Rollers:
1993 Mazda FD3S RX-7 Enkei 16x8 +50 5x114.3 wheels (Extremely light! 13.8lbs each, a popular autocross wheel)
225/55/16 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires (Good grip, low noise)
Stock TPMS installed and programmed in FD wheels, fully functional!
Skunk2 12x1.5 forged aluminum racing lug nuts (Maybe 1/2 the weight of an OEM Scion lug nut and 1/4 the weight of a Lexus one!)
Project Kics 20mm 12x1.5 5x114.3 bolt-on spacers (Installed in the rear, now with less offset than the front)
Stoppers:
Stock
Stiff Stuff:
Tanabe Sustec NF210 progressive lowering springs (Stiff enough for spirited driving, high enough for practicality)
TRD shocks and struts (Very satisfying damping performance, don't let anyone tell you different)
Hotchkis sway bars (Not yet installed, sitting in the garage)

Negative, it wouldn't be reliable anymore.
I don't have time to test and tune and horsepower isn't what I'm after.
Anyways, living in California, I've learned my lesson on non-carb legal modifications already. No go on the turbo.
ocotillo 11-19-2009, 12:46 PM I like this thread. :icon_biggrin:
Where did you get the spacers?

Thank you,
I actually got mine used from Club Lexus. You can find them on ebay, they're pretty hard to come by.
Danimal506 11-19-2009, 06:53 PM i still think its interesting. im not big on turbos and superchargers in fwd cars but suspension mods etc are useful imo

back when i was on the tanabe dfs i felt that this car could be agile.. i wish i could recommend you to get some RE01Rs but they are mad expensive and wear quick. but dangit they grip.

MaxBoost925 12-06-2009, 06:17 PM No more mods for a long while on my car.
New toy however, any watch fans? My one-off custom Gent's Omega Seamaster Professional 300m (on a POS nylon strap):

For customization per occasion, I also bought:
-A black leather Planet Ocean strap with orange stitching
-A Speedmaster stainless steel bracelet
-A black Maratac NATO G10 nylon diver's strap
Here's how the one I'm wearing (41mm) looked like just a few days ago with its little brother (36mm):

miketf1 12-07-2009, 04:12 AM hey grant just noticed on the strut.. are you not running the rubber mat on the front strut? im sure i left them on when i gave you my struts..
MaxBoost925 12-07-2009, 04:47 AM hey grant just noticed on the strut.. are you not running the rubber mat on the front strut? im sure i left them on when i gave you my struts..
Which rubber mats? I think the fronts used rubber tophats but other than that, no rubber on the bottom of the springs.
I have your stock shocks if you'd like them back, I'm not using them. But I think it's just the shocks though, no rubber pieces.
miketf1 12-07-2009, 05:02 AM really? i think i remember when i installed the springs that there is a rubber piece that goes on the bottom. i know i dont have it cause i cleaned out my garage sunday.. maybe i remember wrong..

may i ask why? whats wrong with fast and handling at the same time. and the sheer joy of driving a front wheel drive high horse car is a thrill
